The 83-year-old homemaking expert - who recently admitted she doesn't know how to check her DMs - took to Instagram to reveal that her pet pooch, named Creme Brûlée, had undergone surgery and ultimately had her eye removed.
Martha posted several snaps of the ordeal, including a close up of the dog's face and stitches, as she explained to her 2.5 million followers what had happened.
Posting a lengthy caption alongside the photos, Martha began: 'Two weeks ago my darling Frenchie Creme Brûlée developed a problem.
'Her left eye became cloudy and then very discolored and then actually very bloody. We rushed her to our Vet, Dr Jean Quaintance, who immediately suggested we visit the Animal Eye Clinic in Wilton, Connecticut.'
She continued: 'Creme had a deep ulcerated eye infection, no tumor, and the doctor advised removing the entire eye.
'He was able to insert an artificial eye ball and stitched up the eye socket. Creme was released the same day and has recovered beautifully.'
Martha then confirmed: 'Yesterday the stitches were removed and the operation declared a success!
