Disabled persons not welcome
The world turned upside down in Reading. Carvery fantastic for the price. The staff were friendly. They welcome electric car drivers with charging points by the main entrance. The disabled parking was blocked of by cones as they use it for deliveries. I moved the cones as blocking disabled parking is not acceptable. They asked me to move and I did so. My Uncle of 92 is severely disabled. Unacceptable
The Garden Gate - Rubbish Service
The Garden Gate, Hampsted.
Ambience great, Facilities OK, service total rubbish.
We arrived and, after no activity, went to order drinks at the bar. 10 minutes later we got the drinks and were told it would be quicker to order on the app.
So, halfway through the drinks I downloaded yet another app, fired it up, only to be told 'table service is not available'!!
My companion went to the bar to order the next round (another 10 minute wait) and was told the beer I was drinking (Proper Job) was only available in a bottle. 'Not true' they said, 'we've just had a pint and want another one'. 'Only in a bottle' was the reply so a bottle was reluctantly accepted.
When the drinks arrived I saw not only was it a bottle it was also low alcohol. So my companion went back to argue the toss and appeared triumphantly 5 minutes later with a pint of the proper stuff.
And then 5 minutes after that, a man arrived to announce that we had not paid for the drink!! We explained the situation, he got the message, and the problem went away. But to be accused of not paying for drinks is . . . well 'unacceptable' is too kind.
Customer Services are appalling.
Food and Service was excellent.
The issue was Head Office/Customer Services.
I rang them prior to going on Sunday.
Checked that they took One4All Vouchers. They said they did.
Had a lovely Meal. Went to pay and the Waiter was saying our Card was "Declined"
Turns out they don't.
Very Embarrassing for my Wife and I as it was obvious to other Customers that there was, through no fault of ours, a problem with the Bill.
The least M+B should of done is refunded our Money as we had to pay out of our own Funds, leaving us short.
M+B were completely uninterested.
This should and could have been settled amicably. M+B chose not to.
It ruined a rare opportunity that my Wife and I have for going out for Sunday Lunch.
Greasy Microwave Fare
M&B and associate restaurants have always offered poor thrown together microwave meals and greasy carveries at over inflated prices. Now they’ve decided to branch out into environment degradation by destroying local environments #whitewebbsoak Ethically bereft company. They’ve recently closed a restaurant in Sutton Park and new owners of the building have excelled.
Did you have a nice Dinner.
Did you have a nice Dinner.
My daughter and I booked a dinner for my grand daughter's 21 st birthday celebration on 26th December.
This was at the "Toby Carvery" a M&B brand pub/restuarant In Bishopstoke, Hampshire that had recently reopend after damage and refurb,
Can yoy Imagine the anger and dismay when they phoned at about 1030am on the morning of the 26th to say that the booking was cancelled.
While that is clearly a matter of organisational mismanagement by the local manager - with probable plausible excuses; I would expect M&B to put in place people who could do justice to the ir brand expectations.
I'm sure the M&B directors had a great Boxing day experience.
Ours? not so great.
Disrespectful mangers and staff
Dear Clara Owen,
Further to our recent correspondence regarding your case. I wrote to the Beehive Harvester and I have since received a response from Ashley Wade, the Beehive Harvester. I have outlined Mr Wade’s response below for your reference.
’Thank you for your recent correspondence.
We understand that there is an active police matter regarding these guests.
They have been asked not to attend our business on Thursdays, and have not adhered to our request.
Should they continue to cause such a disturbance, our General Manager will have to consider barring one or both from our business permanently.
We would be most grateful if you could assist by passing this on to your constituents.’
I hope you will not hesitate to contact me again if you have further comments to make on this or would like my assistance on any other matter.
Yours sincerely,
The Rt Hon Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP

Avoid this group
We went to a restaurant owned by this group and had a problem with the price of the bill. Unfortunately, their customer service is non existent and they are not bothered by customer feedback or complaints as they do not respond to emails or any other form of communication. This is obvious when you see the amount of negative reviews on here and no-one from the company has bothered to reply. Avoid all the brands in this chain, including Toby Carvery, Vintage Inns, Miller and Carter, Harvester, All Bar One, etc., if you might need any customer care.
The Artichoke
The Artichoke, Brentwood, Essex
We arrived at 12.50 for a 1pm booking and was asked to wait in the bar for a table. Every table in the bar was covered in empty glasses, cups & plates. Half an hour later at 1.20pm we were called through to the 'restaurant' which was in a very dilapidated state and was filthy dirty. The walls were dirty and covered in hand prints, the paintwork chipped and dirty and the ceiling covered on cobwebs. The food was luke-warm and the roast potatoes were as hard as bullets. The gravy station was awash with spilled gravy. The whole time we were there we saw one waitress who was spread so thin as to make getting her attention pretty much impossible. Look I know that this is a cheap meal but basic food hygiene and cleanliness are surely not a big ask. I will not be returning to this or any other Toby carvery outlet, and I will be advising all of my friends and colleagues to avoid them as well.
No Yorkshire puds and expenceve
Break fast fort the family was £39 with no Yorkshire pudding available ( which was the point of going to try that) no continental items no plack pudding. The toaster is ether untoasted or burned it you put it through twice. Staff only took payment not other customers service.
Couldn't even get a second cup of tea.
Go to premier in or weather spoons for family value and good service.

My mother had a terrible experience at one of your venues for her birthday and when she complained was ignored. I later find out about The Enfield Oak incident and I'm pretty shocked. I will not be supporting any company to do with this company. So no more Miller & Cartner which was the only one left that I went to. Toby Calvery was put on the unapproved list a long time ago.

Outstanding Customer Service
Despite the negative reviews i can't give less than 5*, wish i could give 10. Chloe in Customer Service went above & beyond when i spoke to her. I had an issue with a gift card which due to having family issues to deal with - had recently expired. Chloe went above & beyond & updated my card for another year & also issued me with a letter to prove the steps she had taken to rectify my issue. If Mitchells & Butlers issue a Star Employee Award Chloe should be 1st in line. Thank you so much Chloe, wish i could give u more than 5 star **********

Josh and the staff made us feel very welcome the food was great. The fire was on and The White Horse was very welcoming. We rebooked for Sunday with all the parents and also tried to get in Christmas Day. The staff were happy to take my number and if they had a cancellation would let me know. Overall we had excellent service, good food and a welcoming place and staff. Thank you.
