Job Application · WordPress
Careers-page form with role, resume URL, and cover letter. Free for 500 submissions total — no backend, no SDK, no plugin.

Overview
On WordPress you don't need Contact Form 7, WPForms, or Gravity Forms to collect job applications. Paste a plain HTML application form into a Custom HTML block on your Careers page — or into a theme template like page.php — and it posts straight to SplitForms through a hidden access_key input. No plugin, no PHP, no shortcode, and nothing a plugin or theme update can break, so the same form keeps working even on a statically exported WordPress site. Every application — name, role, cover letter, resume — lands in a dashboard you can export to CSV, with a free email notification on each submission.
Copy-paste code
Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY with your splitforms key, paste into a WordPress page, and ship. No build-time integration required.
<?php
// Drop into a PHP page. Receives a form POST and proxies it to splitforms.com.
// Useful when you want to add server-side validation or rate limiting.
if ($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] === 'POST') {
// sf_sid: passing it on lets partial leads close once the visitor
// submits. It only exists if the page with your form also has
// <form data-sf-key="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" ...> (this proxy adds access_key, so the form has none)
// <script src="https://splitforms.com/embed.js" async></script>
// — embed.js then adds the hidden sf_sid input. Harmless without it.
$allowed = ['name', 'email', 'role', 'linkedin', 'resume_url', 'cover_letter', 'sf_sid'];
$payload = ['access_key' => 'YOUR_ACCESS_KEY'];
$payload['subject'] = 'New job application';
foreach ($allowed as $f) {
if (isset($_POST[$f])) $payload[$f] = $_POST[$f];
}
$ch = curl_init('https://splitforms.com/api/submit');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, http_build_query($payload));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, ['Accept: application/json']);
$response = curl_exec($ch);
$status = curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE);
curl_close($ch);
header('Content-Type: application/json');

?>WordPress + Job Application
WordPress contact form plugins (Contact Form 7, WPForms, Fluent Forms) work but add database bloat, update fatigue, and a monthly subscription for features like webhook delivery or advanced spam controls. The job application on this page drops into a Custom HTML block — no PHP, no plugin activation, no settings page to configure. Every field POSTs to splitforms as standard form data, so your WordPress admin stays clean. You keep using WordPress for content management and page building while splitforms handles the form pipeline.

Job Application fields
The posted payload contains full name, email, position you're applying for, linkedin / portfolio url, resume url, cover letter. Required fields are full name, email, position you're applying for and cover letter. Rename, remove, or add your own — splitforms accepts any name you POST.

Template playbook
ATS subscriptions (Greenhouse, Lever, Workable) start at $6-15k/year for a small team — a lot of money for a startup that hires 2 engineers a year. A self-hosted application form on the careers page handles the inbound flow. The form captures name, email, role applying for, resume (PDF upload, often required), LinkedIn / portfolio URL, and a brief 'why us' textarea. The submission lands in the hiring manager's inbox or webhooks into Notion / Airtable / a Slack channel for triage. As soon as you're past 5 simultaneous open roles, an ATS pays off — until then, this works.

Setup
Three actions stand between you and your first job application submission — no backend, no database, no CAPTCHA library.
Sign in at splitforms.com — your access key is created instantly. No credit card, no setup wizard, no SDK to install.
Drop the form snippet into a WordPress page, component, or layout. Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY with the key from your dashboard. The form action is a hard-coded URL — no env vars or build-time wiring needed.
Dashboard updates live on Free. Free includes owner email delivery; paid plans add signed webhooks, CSV export, Slack/Discord forwarding, and BCC to your team.
How SplitForms works
splitforms receives the submission, filters spam, saves it to your dashboard and emails you — then, on paid plans, sends it on to your webhooks and integrations. No backend infrastructure to build.

Point your form to your unique SplitForms endpoint. That's it.

We instantly capture and organize every submission in your inbox.

Send data to email, spreadsheets, CRMs, webhooks, and 7,000+ apps.

No credit card required. Set up in under 60 seconds.
Connect & automate
On paid plans, submissions can also go to Slack, Discord, Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier or any signed webhook — and splitforms works on the platforms you build on, from WordPress and Shopify to Next.js. With Stripe connected, your forms can take payments too.

Common questions
Either — it's the same HTML <form> posting to https://splitforms.com/api/submit, so where it lives doesn't change how it works. The usual spot is a Custom HTML block on a dedicated Careers page; to bake it into the design instead, paste the identical markup into your careers template (page-careers.php or a block template). You're editing markup, not installing anything, so there's no form builder or shortcode to wire up.
Yes — add <input type="file" name="resume"> and the uploaded file is stored and linked from that applicant's row in the dashboard, and it rides along with your CSV export. Uploads are a Pro feature ($5/mo); on the free plan the text fields (name, role, cover letter) still come through, just without the attachment. Note the free plan is 500 submissions total, so a single well-shared opening can use it up — Pro raises that to 5,000 applications a month.
Owner email notifications are included on every plan. Accepted applications are saved before notification email is attempted; delivery time and inbox placement depend on provider and recipient settings. When different roles go to different managers, routing (Pro) sends each application to the right address off a field like the position, and the auto-responder (paid plans) emails the candidate an instant "application received" confirmation instead of leaving them wondering.
You don't need one, and it won't conflict. The application form is just HTML posting to SplitForms — no shortcode, custom post type, or database table — so it never touches Contact Form 7 or any other plugin's data. Run it beside your existing contact forms, or use it to retire them. And because nothing hooks into WordPress, a plugin or theme update can't break the form or lose you an applicant.
Yes. The form is plain HTML with a single POST endpoint, so it runs on any WordPress site without server-side code, plugins, or SDKs. Drop the snippet into a WordPress page or component and submissions land in your splitforms dashboard.

Yes. The template ships with sensible defaults (full name, email, position you're applying for, linkedin / portfolio url…) — add, remove, or rename any of them. Splitforms accepts whatever fields you POST.
