§ 02 · Comparison · checked Sep 2026

How splitforms pricing compares.

splitforms gives 500 free submissions with no card, then 5,000/month for $5 or 15,000/month for $49/year — no per-form fees. At full use that is $1.00 (Pro) or $0.27 (Annual) per 1,000 submissions. See the full tier-by-tier numbers on Formspree pricing, Web3Forms pricing, and Basin pricing, or the full 14-service alternatives comparison; every capability mentioned here is documented on the features page.

§ 03 · Principles · three rules · zero spin

Why we price form backend like this.

Three principles behind every dollar on this page.

principle 01

Free should mean free

500 submissions and unlimited forms is enough to launch a portfolio site, a small SaaS landing page, or a startup's first contact flow and see real leads before you pay anything. No credit card to start.

principle 02

Paid should be obviously fair

$5/month covers 5,000 submissions with every paid feature unlocked, and $49/year covers 15,000 a month — deliberately under the threshold where you'd second-guess the bill.

principle 03

Honest beats clever

No overage surprises, no introductory rates that jump later, and no paid feature maze. The price you see is what you pay.

§ 04 · Upgrade & support · two questions · plain answers

How to upgrade and how to get help.

Plain answers to the two questions every new splitforms user asks on day one — “how do I move to a paid plan?” and “who do I email if something breaks?”

How to upgrade from Free

  1. Sign in to your dashboard and open the Billing tab.
  2. Choose Pro ($5/month) or Annual ($49/year) and check out securely via Stripe.
  3. The new quota applies instantly. Your access key, forms, webhooks, exports, and integrations unlock immediately on a paid plan.

How to get billing or technical help

  • Email [email protected] — usually within one business day; Pro and Annual get priority email support.
  • Read the docs for API reference, framework recipes, and migration guides.
  • Check splitforms.com/status for real-time uptime and incidents.
  • Cancel anytime from the dashboard; billing terms are in the refund policy.
§ 05 · Questions · 26 answered

Pricing & plan FAQ.

Cancellation, plan changes, what counts as a submission, file uploads, custom domains, team accounts, GDPR, technical limits, support, and whether unused submissions roll over — answered below.

Is splitforms really free? What's the catch?

No catch. Free gives you 500 submissions with no credit card and no time limit, plus unlimited forms, smart spam filtering, owner notification emails, and the submissions dashboard. Webhooks, integrations, exports, and file uploads are on the paid plans: Pro ($5/month) or Annual ($49/year).

What's the difference between Pro and Annual?

Features are identical — webhooks, integrations, exports, auto-replies, CC/BCC recipients, notification routing, Stripe payments, file uploads, passing submitted fields into your redirect URL, and 3 team seats. (Allowed-domain locking and redirect after submit are available on every plan, including Free.) Annual is billed $49 once a year (about $4.08/month) and raises the allowance from 5,000 to 15,000 submissions a month and file storage from 500 MB to 5 GB. At full use that is $0.27 per 1,000 submissions on Annual versus $1.00 on Pro.

How much does splitforms cost per year?

Pro is $60 a year billed monthly ($5/month); Annual is $49 a year. Over three years that is $180 on Pro or $147 on Annual. Free costs nothing for your first 500 submissions.

Are email notifications included on the free plan?

Yes. Owner notification emails are free on every plan, including Free. Paid plans add auto-responder emails to the person who submitted, plus per-form CC and BCC recipients.

How does splitforms pricing compare with Formspree and Web3Forms?

Formspree Free is 50 submissions a month and Personal is $15/month ($10 billed yearly) for 200. Web3Forms Free is 250 a month and Pro is $15/month (or $149/year) for 10,000. splitforms Free is 500 submissions, then $5/month for 5,000 a month or $49/year for 15,000 a month. Pick whichever allowance shape matches your traffic.

What happened to the $1 Starter and $59 3-Year plans?

The $1/month Starter plan and the $59 3-Year plan are no longer sold. Existing Starter and 3-Year subscribers keep their plan, price and limits until they cancel. New buyers choose Free, Pro, or Annual.

Do you offer custom or enterprise plans?

Yes. If the published tiers don't fit — higher volumes, invoiced billing, custom DPA or security review, agency terms across many client accounts — email [email protected] with what you need. Custom plans are set up personally, usually the same day.

What happens when I use all 500 submissions on the Free plan?

Free is 500 submissions in total, and the allowance does not refill each month. Once it is used, the API returns a 429 and stops accepting new submissions on that account until you upgrade to Pro or Annual. Submissions already stored stay in your dashboard and remain exportable.

Are there any hidden fees, overage charges, or per-form fees?

No. Your plan price is what you pay — there are no overage charges, no email-volume fees, no webhook fees, and no 'enterprise add-on' upsells. Every plan — Free, Pro, and Annual — includes unlimited forms.

Can I cancel anytime? Is there a refund?

You can cancel from your dashboard at any time: cancelling stops all future charges, and paid features stay active until the end of the period you've already paid for. We don't issue cash refunds for amounts already billed — if something goes wrong on our side we make it right with account credit or extra subscription time. The full terms are in our refund policy at splitforms.com/refund-policy.

Do you offer discounts for students, non-profits, or open source?

Yes. Email [email protected] from your .edu address, your non-profit domain, or with a link to your public OSS project and we'll sort you out — usually a free Pro plan for as long as you're active.

Can I use one access key on multiple websites or client projects?

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited forms — Pro and Annual add the volume agencies need for lots of client forms.

Can I collect payments through my forms?

Yes — Stripe payments are included on every paid plan. Connect your own Stripe account in one click, set a fixed amount in Form settings → Payments, and submitters are sent to Stripe Checkout after they submit. The money goes straight to your Stripe account — splitforms never holds your funds — and each submission is marked paid or unpaid in your dashboard. Square support is coming soon.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards through Stripe Checkout, plus the wallets Stripe offers at checkout on your device, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Custom and Business plans can be invoiced — email [email protected].

Do you charge sales tax or VAT?

Stripe handles regional tax compliance — VAT for EU, GST for AU/IN, sales tax for relevant US states. Your invoice shows the exact breakdown. Business buyers can add a VAT/EIN number at checkout for reverse charge.

What counts as a 'submission'? Do test or spam submissions count?

A submission is one successful POST to the splitforms API that passes validation and is stored in your dashboard. Honeypot-flagged spam never counts toward your quota. Validation failures (missing access key, blocked domain, malformed body) never count. Test submissions you send from your own dashboard's preview tool do count — they're indistinguishable from real submissions, which is exactly what makes them a genuine end-to-end verification.

Do unused submissions roll over to the next month?

No. Paid plans reset at the start of each calendar month, and unused submissions do not roll over. We keep the model simple on purpose: you always know exactly how many submissions are available, and you never have to track a balance.

Which plan do I need for file uploads?

Pro or Annual with the Storage integration connected: up to 5 files of 5 MB each per submission, with 500 MB of storage on Pro and 5 GB on Annual. On Free, files are dropped and text fields are saved.

Are file uploads supported, and do they count toward the quota?

File uploads work when the Storage integration is connected. The limit is 5 files per submission, 5 MB per file, with total storage space per plan: 500 MB on Pro, and 5 GB on Annual and Business. Each form submission with attached files counts as one submission, not one per file. If an account lapses to the free plan, you can still sign in and export everything: stored files are kept for 30 days and then deleted, while submissions themselves are not deleted.

Can I use my own custom domain for the form endpoint?

Not yet — custom domains (a CNAME like forms.yourdomain.com pointing at splitforms) are in development for paid plans. Today every plan posts to splitforms.com/api/submit. If custom domains matter for your setup, email [email protected] and we'll notify you the day it ships.

What if I need more than 15,000 submissions per month?

Business and custom plans cover high-volume sites and agencies: a larger monthly allowance, unlimited forms, everything in Pro, 10 team seats, and invoiced billing. They're set up personally — email [email protected] with your expected volume and we'll get you running, usually the same day.

Are there team accounts, multiple seats, or shared inboxes?

Yes. Pro and Annual include 3 team seats; Business includes 10 — at no extra cost. Invite teammates by email from Dashboard → Team; each member signs in with their own login and can view and manage your forms, submissions, and webhooks, while billing and team management stay with the workspace owner. For shared-inbox style alerts there's also an account-wide BCC list, and a full audit log is still on the roadmap.

Is splitforms GDPR-compliant? Do you offer a DPA?

Yes. Submissions live in Postgres with row-level security so only you can read your own data — splitforms never sells, shares, or trains models on form submissions. We sign a Data Processing Addendum (DPA) on request for any plan, free included. EU data residency is on the roadmap for paid plans.

What are the technical limits — payload size, rate limits, fields per form?

Each submission stores up to 100 fields, with text values trimmed to 10,000 characters per field. Paid file uploads allow up to five files at 5 MB each. The submit endpoint currently allows 6 requests per minute and 20 per 15 minutes for each IP-and-access-key pair, returning HTTP 429 when either window is exceeded.

How do I upgrade from Free, or change plans later?

Upgrade from your dashboard at /dashboard/billing in two clicks — your access key stays the same, your forms keep working, and the new quota applies immediately. Pro is $5/month and Annual is $49/year; moving from Pro to Annual starts a yearly billing cycle.

What kind of support do I get on each plan?

Every plan gets email support at [email protected], usually within one business day, plus the public docs. Pro and Annual get priority email support. Status, incidents, and historic uptime live at splitforms.com/status.
