Compress a PDF to the exact size.

Pick the limit the portal allows and get a PDF under it, checked: every page is redrawn at the sharpest setting that fits, so the file is only as small as it has to be. Locked? Add the password. It all happens in your browser.

Which portal wants which size

The limits as each portal's own instructions state them, read 28 September 2026. Each size has its own page with what fits and what to do when a scan won't go that small.

When a PDF isn't the right tool

A limit of 50 or 100 KB is nearly always on an image, not a PDF: photos, signatures and thumb impressions. If the portal wants a JPEG, the photo and signature resizer makes it to the exact KB and pixels. Photos of a document rather than a PDF? The images-to-PDF tool makes one PDF under the same limits, and an Aadhaar goes through the safe Aadhaar copy tool, which masks the number as well.

Questions

How does it get a PDF under the limit?+

Every page is redrawn as a JPEG at the sharpest setting that fits, from 200 DPI down to 72, so the file is only as small as it has to be. The result is measured against the limit before you download, and the tool tells you if it had to go below 120 DPI.

Will the text still be selectable?+

No. Pages are redrawn as pictures to reach these sizes, so there is no text layer afterwards; nothing hidden in the original is left behind either. The image-to-text tool reads the words back if you need them.

Can it remove a password?+

Yes. Type the password in the box and the tool opens the PDF, compresses it if you set a limit, and gives you an unlocked copy. It can't open a PDF whose password you don't know.

Is 1 MB 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB?+

Portals don't say. The tool meets a limit counting 1,000 bytes to the KB with a little room to spare, the stricter reading, so a portal counting 1,024 accepts the same file.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+

No. It's opened and redrawn in your browser, and the result stays on your device. There is no account and no log.
