Scope notes
- GLEIF: entities whose legal address is in the United States, with direct and ultimate accounting-consolidation parents. Fund-management and branch relationships are not ownership and are excluded.
- Outside the US, on demand: Companies House (UK), SIRENE (France, INSEE, via the API Recherche d'entreprises) and GLEIF LEI records are looked up one business at a time when a check or a search names it, and the file is re-read after 30 days. The SIRENE database is not loaded in bulk; sole traders, public bodies and company officers are never read. Their “last verified” date is a daily test lookup of one known company.
- SEC Form D: issuers in the most recent eight published quarters plus a monthly top-up from EDGAR daily indexes. Named individuals in filings are never collected.
- Registry index: Colorado 3,058,565 entities indexed; files created on demand; Pennsylvania 2,331,568 entities indexed; files created on demand; New York 4,220,619 entities indexed; files created on demand; Texas 3,433,835 entities indexed; files created on demand; Florida 3,725,653 entities indexed; files created on demand; Connecticut 1,255,654 entities indexed; files created on demand; Oregon 441,791 entities indexed; files created on demand; Iowa 343,500 entities indexed; files created on demand; District of Columbia 497,004 entities indexed; files created on demand. An index row is not a file and is not published: it holds the register ID, legal name, status, entity type, formation date, city and ZIP code only, never people. A file is created when a check names the business and its legal name and form match exactly one entity in force on these registers. Refreshed monthly (new entities) and quarterly (every row).
- Licence listings: LA Office of Finance 437,855 listed, 5,976 on files; SF Treasurer and Tax Collector 111,195 listed, 2,796 on files; San Diego City Treasurer 33,642 listed, 1,570 on files; Chicago BACP 49,058 listed, 1,264 on files; NYC DCWP 55,320 listed, 18,648 on files; Seattle FAS 59,699 listed, 1,846 on files; CSLB 129,852 listed, 2,030 on files; TDLR 104,334 listed, 5,740 on files. City business tax registrations and business licences (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, New York City, Seattle) and contractor licence boards (California CSLB, Texas TDLR) are not registers of legal entities: a listing is added to a file only when its name or trade name and its street address or ZIP code match that one file, and it never creates a file on its own (a file is created only when the listing names a legal entity that is exactly one entity in force on an indexed state register). Sole proprietors and person-named listings are never kept. Refreshed monthly.
- Colorado Secretary of State: files for businesses that appear in another Jid source (by entity number or exact name and address), whose own website names them, or that a check names (from the registry index).
- New York, Connecticut, Oregon and Florida registers: read in full each cycle, but only rows that match a business already on file (by the registration number GLEIF cites, or by name and address) are stored. Their scheduled runs never create a file; files come only from the targeted website-read load and the registry index above (New York, Florida and Oregon: active entities; Connecticut: every status).
- Iowa Secretary of State (Iowa Data Hub, CC BY 4.0) and District of Columbia DLCP (opendata.dc.gov, CC BY 4.0): files only for businesses a check or the website read names (from the registry index), re-checked monthly. Registered agents are never read.
- Texas Comptroller franchise taxpayers and Pennsylvania Department of State: files for businesses whose own website names them, or that a check names (from the registry index). Sole owners and other individuals are never read.
- FMCSA: files are created for active for-hire carriers with active operating authority, a business legal form and two or more power units. Other active carriers are attached only to files Jid already holds. Carriers named as individuals are skipped.
- TTB: distilled spirits plants, wine producers, importers and wholesalers. TTB does not publish brewers. Permits held by individuals are skipped.
- SEC advisers: SEC-registered and exempt reporting advisers from the monthly Form ADV reports; sole proprietorships are skipped. FDIC: insured institutions in operation and failures since 2000. NCUA: federally insured credit unions in the latest call report.
- OFAC: a name screen of every file against SDN and consolidated-list entity names and aliases. It is not a sanctions determination.
- Recalls: NHTSA and CPSC campaigns since 1 January 2015; FDA drug, device and food Enforcement Reports since June 2012.
- Consolidated Screening List: a name screen of every file against the business entries on the Commerce Entity List, Denied Persons, Unverified and Military End User lists, the State ITAR debarred list and Nonproliferation Sanctions. Not a determination; Treasury lists come from OFAC directly.
- Exclusions: HHS-OIG LEIE and SAM.gov exclusions, businesses only. These are agency determinations, shown as red flags.
- SAM.gov entity registrations: from the monthly public extract. Files are created for active registrations for all awards that carry a CAGE code and a legal form and were first registered at least two years earlier; other business registrations are attached only to files Jid already holds. Sole proprietorships, government bodies, entities that opted out of public display and all points of contact are skipped.
- NPPES: organisation NPIs for pharmacies, clinical laboratories and medical equipment suppliers, plus any organisation that matches another Jid file. Individual providers are never read.
- IRS exempt organisations: files for organisations with revenue or assets of $5 million or more; smaller ones only where they match another Jid file.
- FDA 510(k) and PMA: applicants with at least one decision since 2010.
- DOL Form 5500: employers that sponsor an employee benefit plan, from the Form 5500 and 5500-SF filings of the two latest plan years. Attached only to a file Jid already holds, on the EIN or on the exact legal name, legal form and ZIP code; never creates a file. Other sponsors are kept in a non-public EIN index (EIN, name, state, ZIP, filing year, business code) so a later lookup by EIN resolves. 789,734 sponsors in the EIN index. Person-named sponsors, signers and contacts are never read.
- EPA Facility Registry Service: facilities and the EPA and state program records that cover them, attached to a file Jid already holds when the facility's owner or operator organisation matches it on the EIN or the exact legal name, legal form and ZIP code (the organisation's or the facility's). Only current owners, operators and permittees count, never parent companies or contacts. Quarterly. Never creates a file; individuals are never read.
