1Application#
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses Jid, with or without a key. The examples in each section are not exhaustive. We decide in our reasonable judgment whether conduct breaches this policy.
2No scraping or bulk extraction#
- Do not crawl, scrape, spider or bulk-download file pages, search results, sitemaps or badges, by any automated means, except as a general-purpose search engine or answer engine indexing pages in line with robots.txt.
- Do not use the website as a substitute for the API. Automated access to data belongs on the API, under the API and MCP Terms.
- Do not evade rate limits, firewall rules, Turnstile challenges or other access controls, including by rotating IP addresses, user agents, keys or accounts.
- Do not systematically walk file identifiers, sitemap entries or search results to reconstruct the dataset.
3No reselling or redistribution of the dataset#
- Do not sell, license, rent, publish or otherwise make available all or a substantial part of Jid's files, facts, event histories, matches or status results, whether obtained from the website, the API, the MCP server or monitors, and whether in original or derived form.
- Do not build a competing registry, directory, data product or API from Jid data.
- Do not use Jid data in bulk to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model, other than an agent retrieving individual files at the time it answers a question, without our written permission.
- Quoting individual facts with attribution, linking to files, and using API responses in your own product within the API and MCP Terms are allowed.
4No harassment of listed businesses#
- Do not use a file, or contact details from one (including details an owner has chosen to publish), to send unsolicited bulk e-mail, calls or messages, or to add anyone to a mailing list without their consent.
- Do not threaten, intimidate, harass or stalk any business, owner, employee or other person because of what a file says.
- Do not use a file to demand payment or any other benefit in return for not publicising a recall, shortage, sanctions screen result or other fact (extortion), or offer to have facts removed from Jid for a fee. No one can pay Jid to remove or change a registry fact.
- Do not misrepresent what a file says, including by quoting a fact without its date or source, to damage a business's reputation.
5No false claims, disputes or statements#
- Do not claim a file for a business you are not authorised to represent, or interfere with a domain, mailbox or website to pass a claim check.
- Do not impersonate any person, business, agency or registry.
- Do not make a community report you know to be false, report to harm a competitor or to retaliate, coordinate reports with others, or create accounts or keys to multiply reports.
- Do not submit a dispute you know to be false or misleading, submit disputes to suppress accurate public records (including a competitor's), or submit disputes in bulk or by automated means.
- Do not post self-reported facts that are false or misleading, including licences, registrations or approvals the business does not hold, or content that infringes anyone's rights, includes someone else's personal data without their permission, or contains code, links to malware, or instructions intended to manipulate AI agents.
6No deceptive badges#
- Do not display a "Verified on Jid" badge for a business that has not claimed its file, for a different business, or after a claim, a Verified on Jid plan or a badge licence has ended or been revoked.
- Do not alter, recolour, crop, recreate or freeze a badge image or its text, or serve a stored copy in place of the badge we serve.
- Do not place a badge on products, packaging, labels, certificates, invoices or advertising in a way that suggests Jid has certified, approved, licensed, inspected or endorsed a business, product or service.
- Do not use the Jid name or mark in a way likely to cause confusion, including in a domain name, business name or social media handle.
The Claims and Badge Terms (/claims-and-badges) set out what badge use is permitted.
7No attempts to defeat signatures#
- Do not forge, alter or tamper with a signed statement, or present a statement with an invalid signature as genuine.
- Do not present an expired statement as current, or a statement about one business as being about another.
- Do not attempt to obtain, derive or misuse Jid's private signing keys, monitor secrets, API keys, claim tokens or manage links, or attack the cryptography, canonicalisation or key distribution that protect them.
8No interference with the service#
- Do not probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, except under the reporting rules on the Security page (/security).
- Do not access, or try to access, data or features you are not authorised to use, including another customer's monitors, usage or keys.
- Do not overload the service or a source we read, send malware, or interfere with other users.
9No unlawful or prohibited purposes#
Do not use Jid for any purpose prohibited by the Permissible Use and FCRA Notice (/permissible-use), to discriminate unlawfully, to profile or locate individuals, or for any other unlawful purpose.
10Enforcement and reporting#
We may investigate suspected breaches and, in proportion to the breach, warn you, remove content, throttle or block traffic, suspend or revoke keys, claims, monitors and badge licences, and report conduct to the relevant authorities. We may preserve records needed for an investigation or legal claim.
Report misuse of Jid, including deceptive badges and harassment, to hello@jid.com.
