What USDai is
USDai (USDAI) is described as a yield-bearing synthetic dollar backed by loans against AI hardware, compute, and DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure) assets. The source material does not name a founding team, company, or launch date.
The mechanism works like a debt instrument rather than a cash reserve: USDai is backed by loans issued against amortizing AI and DePIN hardware, with a target yield of 15–25% APR, functioning similarly to a high-yield bond index tied to income from that infrastructure equipment. A separate arbitrage mechanism is intended to pull the token's price back toward its peg when it drifts. The stated purpose is to connect owners of depreciating, productive AI hardware with the financing needed to scale it, with DePIN projects borrowing against future growth to expand their networks.
What this is not: it is not a fiat-collateralized or cash-reserve stablecoin — its backing is loans against physical and compute assets, which carries credit and collateral risk the source does not quantify. The 15–25% APR is a target, not a guaranteed or historical return, and the peg-restoring mechanism is described only in general terms, with no detail here on its actual track record of holding the peg. No audit, loan-default data, or backing-asset breakdown appears in the source. It is classified by CoinGecko under several ecosystem and category tags — including Synthetic Dollar and Yield-Bearing Stablecoin — and is deployed across Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, and Plasma, meaning anyone assessing it should treat it as a multi-chain, infrastructure-debt-backed asset rather than a conventional stablecoin, and should not assume cross-chain liquidity or peg behavior is uniform.
Where USDAI lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
