What it actually costs to sell MON
Selling $100,000 of MON into each exchange’s resting bids, measured against the mid price:
| Exchange | Lost | Got back | Measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase MON/USD | 0.14% | $99,859 | 2026-10-18 |
| Kraken MON/USD | 0.75% | $99,252 | 2026-10-18 |
Exchange figures need an account there (and KYC, a permitted country, the tokens already deposited), are before trading fees, and are never averaged with the on-chain figure. Binance is not included: it refuses requests from the region our servers are in. How this is measured →
Watch this number instead of remembering it. A free account keeps MON on a list, records where it stood the day you added it, and emails you if selling it on these exchanges gets materially harder — one message, not a series. The measurement itself stays public; the account is for being told when it moves without you looking.
What Monad is
Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain designed to process 10,000 transactions per second with near-zero fees, built to support applications that require high-frequency activity while aiming to preserve security and decentralization. The project raised approximately $244 million across multiple funding rounds: a $19 million seed round in February 2023 led by Dragonfly Capital, and a $225 million Series A in April 2024 led by Paradigm at a $3 billion valuation, with other investors including Electric Capital, Greenoaks, Coinbase Ventures, and Naval Ravikant.
Monad's core design separates transaction ordering from transaction execution: validators first agree on the sequence of transactions, then execute them in parallel rather than one at a time, using a custom-built database called MonadDB to sustain throughput. The chain is fully EVM-compatible, meaning Ethereum applications and tools work on it without code changes, and it is built to run on consumer-grade hardware rather than specialized equipment, lowering the bar for participants who want to help secure the network.
What this page can confirm independently is limited to classification: Monad is categorized as a Smart Contract Platform and Layer 1 chain using a parallelized EVM, and it appears in the tracked portfolios of Animoca Brands, Paradigm, Coinbase Ventures, Galaxy Digital, and eGirl Capital. None of the throughput, fee, or performance claims above have been independently measured here — they are descriptions from the project itself, not verified benchmarks. There is no data in hand on real-world transaction speed under load, fee levels at scale, validator decentralization, or how the hardware requirements hold up once the network sees production traffic. A funding history and an investor list describe capital raised and who backed it; they say nothing about network usage, token distribution, or adoption. Treat every performance figure above as a design target until it is independently measured.

MON can be staked by delegating it to a validator. Changes take effect at the start of an epoch, which comes about every four hours, and undelegated MON can be withdrawn after a wait of one more epoch.

MON pays the transaction fees on the Monad network, so it is what running a program there costs. Each app is its own code with its own flaws.

MON started with 100 billion tokens. Each block creates 25 new MON for validators and stakers, about 2 billion a year, and the base part of every transaction fee is burned.

What a coin can do is not a reason to buy it or to sell it. Each answer names its source and the day we read it; where we could not source one, the row is left out. How these are written · Every coin we have written up
About the asset
