Introduction
The experiment done in this study is Double-sideband
suppressed-carrier (DSB SC)
Double-sideband suppressed-carrier is a form of amplitude
modulation.
Amplitude modulation is a process of varying the amplitude
of the carrier signal by a modulating signal.
Modulation is the combination of low-frequency signal with a
very high-frequency radio wave called carrier wave while
demodulation is the recovering of the signal from the
modulated carrier wave.
Cont….
In the DSB-SC modulation, unlike in AM, the wave carrier is
not transmitted; as a result, most of the power is distributed
between the sideband, which indicates an increase of the
coverage in DSB-SC, compared to AM, for the same power
used
In other words, DSB-SC consists of only two symmetrical
sidebands and no carrier band.
The transmission channel is the medium that bridges the
distance from source to destination.
Objective
To Generate and detect Double-sideband suppressed- carrier
(DSB SC) signal by:
Designing systematic system using Matlab Simulink,
including transmitter and receiver
Demonstrating the waveform in time domain and spectrum
in frequency domain for key points of the system.
Methodology
The simulation was done in Matlab Simulink (R2020a).
Two signal generators were used. One is modulating
signal and the other is carrier signal.
These two signals are connected to the multiplier block to
take the product of the two to generate DSB-SC modulated
signal as shown in fig1.

This modulated signal is passed through multiplier with
local oscillator of frequency same as modulation side.
Multiplier output is filtered using two Butterworth Low
pass filter as shown in fig2.

Results
The original signal which is the message signal that was
generated and transmitted, was recovered after being
demodulated and filter.

Conclusio
The simulation was done in Matlab Simulink (R2013a).
Modulated signal is generated with different modulating and
carrier signal frequencies.
The original signal which is the message signal that was
generated and transmitted, was recovered after being
demodulated and filter.
Modulating signal, carrier signal, modulated and recovered
signal, and their spectrum are shown in Fig(4
, 5 & 6)
