splitforms for WordPress

The splitforms plugin connects your WordPress site to your splitforms account: forms that email you without any SMTP setup, every entry saved in your account, and rule-based smart spam filtering.

Set up

  1. Install splitforms from Plugins → Add New and activate it.
  2. Open splitforms in wp-admin and click Connect to splitforms. Sign in (Google or email) and approve the site.
  3. Choose a form, or let splitforms create a contact form, then place it with the splitforms block, the [splitforms] shortcode or the Elementor widget.

Keep your existing forms

Already using Contact Form 7, WPForms, Fluent Forms, Gravity Forms or Ninja Forms? Keep them. Under splitforms → Form plugins, set a form to Back up (splitforms stores a copy of every submission) or Back up + send email (splitforms also sends the notification email).

Your form plugin’s own email is skipped only when splitforms confirms it stored the submission; otherwise it still goes out. Emails to the visitor stay with your form plugin. File contents are never uploaded, only file names and links.

Troubleshooting

“This server couldn’t reach splitforms.com”

The plugin talks to splitforms.com from your web server, over HTTPS (port 443). Some hosts, firewalls and security plugins block outgoing requests from WordPress.

  • Ask your host to allow outgoing HTTPS requests to splitforms.com.
  • If wp-config.php defines WP_HTTP_BLOCK_EXTERNAL, add splitforms.com to WP_ACCESSIBLE_HOSTS.
  • Check that a security or firewall plugin isn’t blocking outgoing requests, then click Retry.

Forms on your pages keep working while this is fixed: visitors’ browsers send submissions to splitforms directly.

“Connection needs attention”: reconnecting

The site’s connection key was revoked (you disconnected it, or revoked it in your splitforms dashboard) or is no longer valid. Your forms keep working; Entries and form backups pause until you reconnect.

  1. In WordPress, click Reconnect in the notice, or go to splitforms → Settings → Account.
  2. Sign in to splitforms and approve the site.
  3. Backups that were waiting are sent automatically.

You can see and revoke every connected site in your dashboard under Integrations → WordPress.

“This site’s address changed”

The plugin noticed the site now runs at a different address than when it was connected, which usually means a staging copy. Form backups pause so the copy doesn’t send its test entries to your account. If this is your live site after a domain move, click Reconnect this site; on a staging copy, click Disconnect.

Submissions “waiting to sync” or failed

When splitforms can’t be reached, your form plugin still handles the submission as usual (including its own email) and the backup is queued and retried automatically, with growing delays.

Open splitforms → Form plugins → Delivery log to see each attempt’s result and click Retry waiting submissions now. The log never stores field values.

Free plan limit reached

The free plan includes 500 submissions in total. Once they are used, splitforms stops accepting new submissions. Forms backed up from another form plugin keep working: that plugin still emails every submission, it just isn’t stored in splitforms. See pricing to upgrade.
