The Ensh*ttification Of The Internet On Steroids

Toxic company plagued by bad design and development decisions that will ban you from their discord for voicing criticism.

They are more interested in pumping out aesthetic dribbble than adding functionality that anyone who actually knows anything about building websites needs.

Their pricing plans are manipulative and prey on the ignorance of people who know nothing about web development.

The general vibe is cult-like. Think Apple. If you're a non-believer, you're out. If you highlight issues, you're out.

Framer are absolutely leading the way when it comes to the "enshittification" of the internet, with their focus on AI, and the way they encourage complete amateurs to make as much money as they can selling Framer sites. Well done guys.

It's such a shame, as this could be an amazing tool for designers, with the right vision and leadership.

What can I say

What can I say. I have email threads from their support team claiming the following:

Paid users who AREN'T pro have NO way to roll back to a previous state on their website. They claim that you can open a version history and simply copy and paste, but this doesn't work, either.

It creates incomplete pastes with broken functions and missing content every single time - IF it even works to begin with.

The real nail in the coffin is a support thread where the rep confirmed that they know this, but if you want - you know, BASIC functionality like VERSION RESTORE - you have to upgrade to a $60/month plan.

Absolutely pathetic. Bye Framer.

To many multi-layered payments options

To many multi-layered payments options, it feels like a scam / gamification, makes me think of Ryanair or Tinder.

I thought at first, playing around with the free version, to find an amazing tool to create my webpage.
So I opted for the upgrade, though it was very dissapointing to find out that the credits I have been using up in the free version were charged off the subscription plan. Adding credits on top is quite expensive. I might say very steep and unserious. Feels like gamification, tricky.

Intransparent pricing policy and rip-off.

Attention, framer pricing modell is a rip-off! They dont mention that you are getting charged 15€ per additional editor monthly. So if you book basic package for 18€ and invite 4 people to work on the project you are paying 75€. Also they even charge this fee, when you remove editor for the next months.

Total scam

Total scam, I pay €18 and I only make one request which is basic, and I have no more credits after this request. I contact support to find out what this joke is, I'm just asked to pay again 🤣 Go goodbye and forever

Unfair billing and poor support

I’m very disappointed with my experience with Framer’s billing and support.

I was charged for yearly subscriptions that I do not use and, as far as I know, did not activate myself. The charges include “Basic Site Yearly” and “Onterechte kosten en slechte ondersteuning”Personal Locale Yearly”, with invoices of €125.57 and €435.60.

My main issue is that I do not need this setup and have not actively used it. I also noticed that I had been paying around €30 per month, while a lower plan of around €10 per month would have been more than enough for what I need.

My web developer reviewed the situation as well and advised me to contact Framer support, because the billing setup does not seem correct for my website or actual usage.

When I contacted support, I was told that a refund may not apply according to their policy. However, I don’t think this should be treated as a standard refund request. I believe Framer should properly review why these subscriptions were active, why I was charged for them, and whether this setup was correct in the first place.

I do not think it is fair to be charged for a yearly setup that I did not knowingly activate, do not need, and have not used. In my opinion, a refund or credit for the unused period would be a reasonable solution.

Overall, I expected more transparency, clearer billing, and better support when dealing with this kind of issue. At this moment, I cannot recommend Framer based on my experience.

this is the worst website builder app I have ever used. It's too complicated for building something very simple. Too many variables and parameters that will destroy my entire page easily. I kept debugging what I set wrong in every step. Even simply creating a text box can lead to issues that you have to do something extra so it doesn't go crazy when the broswer size change. screw this app. really piss me off.

THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOREVER

Terrible experience. Cannot cancel the subscription in their dashboard, it has no option to cancel. I've contacted their team to request cancellation of the subscription, but was dismissed, and they have continued to charge me for months. I'm going to proceed with legal action if this is not resolved.

STAY AWAY!

No trial period, beware, it is not what their ads say

It is not for amateurs like their social media influencer army claims to promote, if anything it is utterly complex and weird to use compared to lovable. They do not offer a trial period and charge a hefty amount upfront, lucky I did not get sucked into going for an annual plan. I would recommend caution before hitting your pay now button, they are not offering any trial period so you will be going in blind..

How can this be so complicated?

Everything that is just a simple click in Wordpress is a full task in Framer. How can this be so complicated?
I end up using the support on a daily basis for usually simple tasks. And then the chatbot can't answer the simple questions or gives incorrect ansswers and you end up waiting for a real persons's answer for a day.

Keep your fingers away from it.

Hidden $30 monthly charge for inviting…

Hidden $30 monthly charge for inviting one additional editor – classic dark pattern
Framer silently charged me $30 after I invited one additional user to edit my project.
Nowhere during the invitation process was there any clear warning, price display, or confirmation that this would cost $30 per month. No pop-up, no mention of billing — nothing.
A month later the money was automatically deducted from my card without any prior notice. This is deceptive billing and a textbook hidden fee.

I've been trying to cancel my subscription with Framer for several hours now. Their support page is outdated and doesn't understand the current layout of the admin page, and their 'chat' service is completely useless - quick to respond until you mention cancellation, at which point it completely stops responding. Avoid.

I had a very disappointing experience.

I had a very disappointing experience.

First of all, the pricing is quite high, especially considering how limited the Basic plans are. Many essential features feel restricted unless you upgrade, which makes it hard to justify the cost.

I also ran into a major issue with project transfers. I created websites and transferred them to clients using the built-in Project Transfer feature, assuming that was all I needed to do. Only afterward was I informed that I also had to register in a separate section. This requirement was not made clear upfront, and it caused unnecessary confusion and inconvenience.

On top of that, I was denied approval for the affiliate program for reasons that feel completely unreasonable. I was told I need to have a page with at least 1,000 followers and that I must already be creating content about graphic or web design. This is frankly ridiculous — how am I supposed to grow my business and start creating websites for clients using Framer if I’m blocked just because I don’t have an established Instagram page?

Overall, a frustrating and limiting experience. At this point, I’m seriously considering going back to WordPress.

I had a good looking site on Framer

I had a good looking site on Framer, eventually outgrew it and needed to own my own codebase. I lost access to my account due to losing a domain and customer support helped me get it back, in the interim I was charged a subscription fee, but they refunded when asked.

The absolute best app out there. Managed to ship 300+ page website in a month. 6 months after it's become our best customer aquisition chanel. Even non designers can make changes and publish. No coding knowledge needed.

Wish I read the reviews prior!

Bought a basic plan for framer to make a very minimalistic site to show services I offer and how to contact me.
Originally the structure was okay. As soon as you ask the AI for a simple request it does something completely different. Only giving it 2 stars as I was refunded relatively quickly.

I would avoid this website
