1. What are the two offerings which are predefine in financials implementation

1-oracle fusion financials offerings

2-oracle fusion financials accounting hub(FAH)

2. How does the setup data import and export happens ?

Setup data can be exported from the source instance and imported into another instance by
creating a Configuration Package using Oracle Fusion Functional Setup Manager.
3. Can the data be moved from one project phase to another ?
As the project moves through multiple phases, such as test, quality, and production, the data
can automatically be exported from one instance to another.

Reference data set

4. Give an example for reference data sharing

Example: An organization has several business units and each business unit has a set of payment
terms that can be applied on a customer invoice. Instead of each business unit creating and
maintaining multiple sets of the same payment terms, you can define the payment terms
reference data at the organization level and stripe that data into partitions (create reference
data sets) so that the different payment terms can be assigned to each business unit.

5. What is a legislative data group ?

The Legislative Data Group is set up in HCM and is a country-specific data partition within an
enterprise.

6. What are roles needed to access information within fusion functional setup manager
Application implementation manager
Application implementation consultant.

7. What is the difference in chart of account structure and chart account structure instance ?

Chart of Accounts Structure Instance: Inherits by default all the attributes of the chart of accounts
structure, meaning that all instances of the same structure share a common shape and have the same
segments in the same order.

However, at the chart of accounts instance level, you can override the default value set assignments for
your segments and assign a unique account hierarchy that determines the parent and child relationships
between the value set values.

8. How many maximum segments can be created in COA ?

Create up to 30 segments with a maximum of 25 characters per segment. Best practices recommend 5
to 9 segments.

9. What are control accounts?

Control accounts ensure only specific data is posted from an approved journal source.
Control Accounts prevent users from entering data from unauthorized sources.
Manual data entry to control accounts can be prevented.

Customer: Only journals from subledger accounting for receivables are permitted.
 Supplier: Only journals from subledger accounting for payables are permitted.
 Restrict Manual Journals: No GL manual journals are permitted to use this account.
 Yes: No manual journals from GL or SLA are permitted against this account.
No: Not a control account.

10. What is a balance cube?

Stores your financial balances in a multidimensional model to enable high-speed, interactive financial
reporting and analysis.

11. When is a balance cube created?

A new standard balances cube is created when an accounting configuration is submitted for a primary or
secondary ledger that uses to a new unique combination of chart of accounts and calendar.

12. Which process updates the balances in balance cube?

The General Ledger Posting process updates your balances and stores these balances in a balances cube
for efficient multidimensional analysis.

13. What is a ledgerset?

Ledger Sets enable you to group multiple ledgers that share the same chart of accounts and calendar
combination to increase the efficiency of your period close, security administration, and reporting.
What is account inspector?

Drill down to underlying journals and subledger transactions with the Account Inspector.

14. How many types of reports can be run by financial reporting center?
7 types

Financial Reports: These reports are built off of the Oracle Financial Reporting Studio using data in the
Oracle Fusion General Ledger balances cube.

Account groups are used to monitor key accounts in General Ledger.

The Sunburst visualization tool lets you interact with your account balances across various business
dimensions to view balances from different perspectives.
Smart View Reports: Smart View is a multidimensional pivot analysis tool combined with full Excel
functionality.
Smart View enables you to interactively analyze your balances and define reports using a familiar
spreadsheet environment.
Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence Analyses: These analyses and reports are built off of
transactional tables using subject areas. These reports can be run by users in General Ledger, Payables,
Receivables, Cash Management, Intercompany.
Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence Dashboards: Dashboards put all the information, functions,
and actions that a business user must have to do their job in one place.
Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher Reports: Most of these reports are predefined and must first be
submitted and resubmitted to see the latest data by the Oracle Enterprise Scheduler through the
Scheduled Processes navigation.

15. What is a procurement business unit?

 Manages and owns requisitioning transactions.

17. Which business unit is supplier sites are associated?

Are associated with a procurement business unit.

18. Can I use Rapid Implementation to add new values at a later point?

Rapid Implementation is meant for one-time quick setup. We do not support updates from Rapid
Implementation. Hence you need to manually add values.

19. Can I change accounting calendar period frequency or adjusting frequency on re-upload?

No. Once created the calendar definition cannot be changed.

20. How many version does a tree have?

A tree by default has only one version. At any point, only one tree version must be active.
21. Can chart of accounts have multiple account hierarchies and what is the purpose?
Chart of accounts values can be associated with multiple hierarchies by defining multiple trees. Using
multiple trees enable create financial reports for different target audiences. For example, you can use
different hierarchies to track cost centers either by geography or line of business.

22. There are different validation types of a value set

23. Format only validation type?

You can use the format only validation type to enter any value as long as it meets your specified
formatting rules. For example, if the value set permits only numbers, you can enter the value 456 for a
value set with a maximum length of three or more, but not the value ABC.

24. Security can be enabled for value set

25. Minimum and maximum value can be set for a particular value set

26. Prior to values of a valueset, Zero’s can be filled

27. What are the list of options for third party control accounts-GL accounts?
Customer Control Account - only journal postings sourced from Accounts Receivable can be posted to
this nominal.

No - either this is not a control account or you want to allow any type of journal to be posted to this
account.

Restrict GL Manual Journals - journals with a source of Manual which are those entered directly into
General Ledger will not be allowed. This provides more flexibility in that any Subledger can post to this
account.

Supplier Control Account - only allow journal postings sourced from Accounts Payable can be posted to
this nominal.

Third Party Control Account - only allow journal postings sourced from Accounts Receivable or Payables
can be posted to this nominal.

28. Why reconciliation of clearing account should be done?

When there are lots of entries work in the business which are done by large number of accounts
assistants, clearing account is open for holding accounting information relating to business transaction.
After personal review of accountant clearing account's record is transfer to general ledger accounts. So,
clearing account is temporary account for recording for further proper record of transactions. For
example, we are obtaining cash from lots of our customers. So, we will debit cash account and credit
clearing account and then after review, clearing account will debit and account receivable account will
credit. So, by this way, there will be nil balance in clearing account. But sometime, it may have some
amount. So, we have to find the reasons behind this through reconciliation of clearing account.

29. How to Set Up Clearing Accounts Reconciliation?

1. On the Specify Ledger Options page by selecting the Enable reconciliation option.
2. On the Manage Values page, set the Reconcile attribute to Yes for each of the reconcilable
clearing account values in the natural account segment.

31. We can disable particular segment from the COA structure at any point?

32. Can we change the name of the prompt for the segments?

Yes

33. Where is the Value set code is attached to each segment mandatorily?
34. What is the difference in chart of account structure and chart account structure instance ?

Chart of Account instance gives us flexibility to design our Accounting hierarchy multiple time with same
COA Structure. For example we are implementing Chart of account for a big MNC. They have business
operation in different country and so they have country specific financial reporting requirement for each
country.

We can use the same structure and create multiple structure instance for different countries. That
means we can create one to many relationship between COA Structure and COA Structure instance.

35. What is the difference between accounting sequence and reporting sequence?
Accounting Sequences: Gapless sequence numbering for journals which is assigned when the journals
are posted or subledger accounting runs.

Reporting Sequences: Gapless and chronological sequence numbering which is assigned to journals
when the General Ledger period is closed. Once a period is closed, the close period program fires a
"Create Reporting Sequences‟ program as a shoot off. This program assigns reporting sequences to
journals. This sequence is used by most of the legal reports required in some countries as the main
sorting criterion to display the journal entries. Reporting sequence is optional.

36. Reporting sequence numbering is not assigned to the journal, what could be the reason?

All the previous periods should be closed for the system to display the reporting sequence numbering
Ex:if the starting period is April-22 and present period is Dec-22,in order to see the reporting sequence
numbering for the journals of Dec-22 ,then we have to close all the periods prior to Dec-22 mandatority

37. How can I restrict the display of a particular segment in the COA structure?

At COA instance level

38. I want a particular value set to not be BI enabled, how can be done?
39. Where can I attach tree hierarchy for a particular segment?
-At coa instance level

Processes that allow one company to perform services for others, with appropriate
intercompany accounting.

44. What is a primary balancing segment ?

A Primary Balancing Segment is a segment of the chart of account that forces balancing,
meaning that the Ledger will calculate a receivable and payable between primary balancing
segments for any entry that crosses them.

45. How many BSV’s oracle fusion supports ?

Oracle Fusion General Ledger supports the use of up to three balancing segments.

46. What are Interdependent Value Sets?

Use a dependent value set to limit the list of values for a given segment based on the value that the user
has defined for a related independent segment.

For example, you could define an independent value set of the states in the USA with values such as CA,
NY, and so on. Then you define a dependent value set of cities in the USA with values such as San
Francisco and Los Angeles that are valid for the independent value CA. Similarly, New York City and
Albany are valid for the independent value NY. In the UI, only the valid cities can be selected for a given
state.

47. What is Table Validation type in value sets?

Typically, you use a table-validated set when the values you want to use are already maintained in an
application table, such as a table of supplier names.

48. In which case can security be assigned to value sets?

In the case of independent and dependent values, you can specify that data security be applied to the
values in segments that use a value set. Based on the roles provisioned to users, data security policies
determine which values of the flexfield segment users can view or modify.

Account type corrections

Account type corrections within the income statement group or within the balance sheet group don't
affect the retained earnings calculation or beginning balances across accounting years.

The following table lists the specific account type corrections that can be made without requiring
manual journal entries as part of the correction process.

Account type corrections that cross from the income statement group to the balance sheet group, or
from the balance sheet group to the income statement group, can affect the retained earnings
calculation and beginning year balances if the corrections cross accounting years.

Can we do netting on the basis of payables invoice type?

Can we do netting on the basis of receivables transaction type?
I have my ledger currency in XCD but I want to do netting for foreign currency transactions also, is It
possible?

I have my ledger in XCD currency, system has payables invoices for Supplier A in USD and also
receivables transactions of Customer B in USD, system also has payables invoices for Supplier A in XCD
and also receivables transactions of Customer B in XCD ,while performing the netting which transactions
will the system select and how many netting settlements will be created by the system?

Note:System will select only those transactions which are due as on the date of running netting.

In this case, if we run the settlement with netting rule as ‘Net within each currency’-i.e, for transactions
other than ledger currency, then the system will create two netting settlement batches,i.e one batch
including only the USD transactions for Supplier A and Customer B ,another batch with XCD transactions
between the same supplier and customer combination.

Receivables transaction in USD

Payables transaction in USD
