Guidelines for Answering Assignments with effect from
Calendar Year 22-23 batch onwards
1. Assignments constitute the continuous evaluation which carries a weightage of 30% in each course.
There will be two assignments for each paper. However, the Learner should answer compulsorily
both assignments per paper and it will be counted for the purpose of the final result.
2. Each assignment consists of five questions and each question carries 3 marks. In both
assignments total of 10 questions for 30 marks and the minimum pass mark is 9 out of 30. If
any learner appears on the theory exam without submitting assignments, their results will
be declared as “FAIL” in that paper. There is a provision for resubmitting assignments
(within double the period of course of study) of those papers, results will be declared along
with the next batch. There is no provision for resubmission/betterment in assignments when
learner secured more than minimum marks.
3. The main purpose of the assignment is to test the learner’s comprehension of the course
material/e-material which is uploaded on the AU website and also in helping him in getting through
the courses. The answers should be complete in all respects. Incomplete answers bring poor marks.
It is desirable that the learner should retain a copy of all assignment responses which he/she
submits.
4. Answering Assignments: While Answering Assignments: (i) A learner should read the assignment
carefully and follow the specific instructions if any. (ii) He/She has to study thoroughly the units on
which assignments are based. (iii) He/She should note down relevant points of answers; rearrange
those points in a logical order and draw a rough outline of the answer. In respect of essay questions,
an introduction, as well as a conclusion, is to be given. The answer should be logical and cohesive
and it should have clear connections between sentences and paragraphs. First write the question
and then start writing the answer. The answer should cover all the main points of the question.
While solving numerical questions, the proper format should be used and the working notes are to
be given wherever necessary.
a. For each paper, both Assignments are to be answered and submitted in a single booklet (one booklet
for one paper) form using A4 size papers providing clear-cut margins and sufficient space in
between each answer. On the top of the first page of the assignment, the required information be
furnished invariably in the format given below. Don’t submit assignments of all papers in one
booklet. Answers can be written on both sides of the paper and paper binding only be
accepted.
b. The responses should be in the candidate’s own handwriting. Print or typed or photo copies of
answers will not be accepted. Answers from the response sheets of other learners will get zero
marks.
Since the Assignment Question Papers are being changed every year, backlog candidates shall have
to answer the current year's assignment question papers and submit the assignments. Assignments
submitted on the basis of the previous year's question papers will not be considered.
