In Sarah Foster, we see more than an engineer. We see a leader with a unique combination of experience, knowledge, care, and drive. And now, we also see the president of our firm. Sarah has been named president of Olsson, effective immediately. She was previously our executive vice president of markets. As president, Sarah will spearhead delivery of services to clients and will be responsible for our growth and performance. “Time and again, Sarah has taken on complex challenges and delivered results,” said Olsson CEO Brad Strittmatter. “Her combination of experience, knowledge, care, and drive is not only unique, but foundational to who we are as a firm.” Sarah joined Olsson in 2018. She worked in business development and then led our western region and subsequently our water practice before elevating to executive vice president for all markets in 2023. “Olsson has an incredible foundation built on great people, strong values, and a commitment to doing work that matters,” she said. “I am incredibly excited about what’s ahead as we help clients solve problems and make a lasting impact on communities.” Based in Denver, Sarah has three decades of experience in the engineering and design industry. She has played key roles in designing water infrastructure and serving programs focused on regulatory and compliance strategies to deliver water infrastructure for communities across the United States. She travels frequently to meet with colleagues and clients and has led employee resource groups for women and rising professionals. Sarah serves as the president of ACEC Colorado and leads our involvement in Engineers Without Borders USA. Sarah is a licensed professional engineer and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. She holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado Denver. #EngineeringPossibilities

Jack Schaller is a steady hand for cities, counties, and states seeking to improve their water and transportation systems. As an engineer with a background in public works, he brings a welcome perspective. "I know what it's like to walk in our clients' shoes," he says. "Operators don't want us to tailor solutions that look good on paper but don't work in the real world. They want us to listen to them." Listening to the unique needs of each community. That's being a good partner. That's Jack Schaller. That's #EngineeringPossibilities

Like many cities across the country, strong growth created infrastructure challenges for the city of Westminster, Colorado. Example: Big Dry Creek, which runs right through the heart of the community. As Westminster grew from a town of 20,000 in the 1970s to a city of 120,000 today, the creek was straightened and simplified. The changes sped up the creek’s current, eroded its banks, and diminished its habitat. To set a new course, the City of Westminster and the Mile High Flood District enlisted Olsson and a collaborative team to restore the creek. Along with partners like Stream Landscape Architecture + Planning, we realigned the channel to restore long-term stability. We reconnected the floodplain, allowing high flows to dissipate. We installed riffle-pool systems and bioengineered banks that replaced hardened infrastructure. We designed a new visitor boardwalk and a pollinator flyway. Earlier this year, the Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers named the Big Dry Creek restoration as one of three finalists for its annual engineering excellence award. That's bringing life back into the heart of a community. That's making a difference. Most see an intern. We see unending potential. We're excited to kick off our summer internship program with 185 interns across the country. They’ll gain hands-on experience, build connections, and make memories that extend far beyond this summer. For us, it's a chance to invest in the next generation through our internship program. For interns, it's just the beginning. #EngineeringPossibilities
