The premise of the book was sound, but there were too many elements conflicting with each other. The shape-shifting house, the witches themselves and the ordinary people in the village.. I found it confusing and rushed.
The writing style jumped from chapter to chapter almost as if different people contributed parts of the story.
There were comedic moments but they were thin and far apart in the book.
I can't see this as a rom-com as both parts were lacking.
The mmc felt very fat-phobic at times, which was an immediate no no for me.

Arson and Erin are close up there with Winter and Beau as my all time favourite pairing, (sorry Hawk).
I absolutely adored this and am trying so hard to write a spoiler free review, so all I WILL say is trust in V and read this, you won't be disappointed!

The main characters were difficult to like especially Lauren who came off as spoilt and selfish, there seemed to be something missing with their back stories as well.
The ending seemed abrupt and left me feeling like there was something missing.

I disliked Fran and Rafael and while I know this was supposed to be a from hate to love romance, I found there was too much hate and when the love arrived it seemed jarring and wrong somehow.
I'll be passing this on to a charity shop as soon as we're out of lockdown. ...more

This didn't click with me at all, the part that irked me the most was the almost continual referring of Gilly as an old granny, despite her only being in her 50's.
Some of the characters were sympathetic but others grated on me completely.

It's light and easy to read but is a tad long. The characters are supposed to be teasing but it goes beyond that both the main characters and the supporting cast cross into being mean and bitchy at times.
While I enjoyed reading it, I'm not sure I'll read any more by the author.

The characterisation was one dimensional and felt really fake. The characters themselves were bland and uninteresting. The story was too much, half the characters should have been culled from the book to engage the reader more. The descriptions were either overblown or lacking in detail - there was no middle ground. And, the spice the author apparently specialises in was so bad it was almost funny, full of cliches.
This wasn't for me at all.
