Joan Levy, a vibrant and lifelong learner, passed away last week at the age of 94 following a brief illness. Throughout her life, she embraced culture in all its forms — music, art, theater, literature — and remained dedicated to education and her faith.

Never without a book in hand, she was a voracious reader and a member of a wide variety of book clubs. She also attended weekly classes at Congregation Mishkan Or, engaging her mind and spirit.

Joan demonstrated her generous spirit and commitment to her community over the years by volunteering regularly with the Alzheimer’s Association, the Cleveland Orchestra, Menorah Park and voter registration drives.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Matthew) Wayne, and son, Peter Levy, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Wayne. She was predeceased by her husband, James, and her brother, Larry Beyer.
