SquishyFile (squishyfile.com) is a set of free video tools that run in your browser: compress, convert, filter, upscale, transcribe and a few more. I'm J.Julian, and I build and run the site on my own. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, who collects it, and what you can do about it.
There are no accounts on SquishyFile. You never sign up or log in, and I don't collect names, passwords or payment details. By using the site you accept the practices described here. If you don't, please don't use the site.
Every tool on SquishyFile processes files locally. Most tools use your browser's built-in video engine (WebCodecs) or WebAssembly on your CPU. The heavier AI tools, like the video upscaler and the background remover, run on your graphics card through WebGPU. In both cases the file is read and processed inside your browser tab. It isn't uploaded, sent over the network or stored by me in any form. I have no way to see the videos, images or audio you process, because they never reach my infrastructure.
The site collects a small amount of information in four ways.
I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages and tools people use, how long visits last, what device and browser visitors use, their approximate location (city or country level, derived from the IP address), and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar browser storage to tell visits apart. Google Signals is turned off, so analytics data is not linked to anyone's Google account.
You can read how Google handles this data in Google's Privacy Policy, and you can block Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Ads pay for the site, which is why the tools have no file-size limit and no watermark. Ads on SquishyFile are served by third-party advertising partners, currently Google AdSense together with the ad partners Google works with. Its scripts load on every page, so they may set or read cookies even on a page where no ad is visible at that moment.
These partners use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to measure ads and, where the law and your consent allow it, to show ads based on your interests. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site or other sites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads based on those visits.
You can turn off personalized ads from Google in Google Ads Settings, read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and opt out of many other vendors at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
Some pages show a sponsored recommendation for a third-party product, marked "Ads". Some of these are affiliate links: if you click one and later sign up or buy, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I don't pass your personal information or your files to these companies. After you click through you're on their website, and their privacy policy applies. They may be able to tell that you came from SquishyFile, for example from a referral code in the link.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records standard request data such as IP address, browser type, the referring page and the time of the request. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site running. I don't use them to identify anyone.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent banner appears before advertising cookies are used for personalization. The banner is run by a certified consent management platform and follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. You can accept, reject or pick individual purposes and vendors, and you can change your choice later through the privacy settings link the banner leaves on the page.
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores for a website. SquishyFile's tools don't need cookies to work. Cookies on this site come from:
| Source | Why |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Counting visits and sessions for usage statistics |
| Google AdSense and its ad partners | Serving and measuring ads, including interest-based ads where you allowed them |
| The consent banner | Remembering the privacy choice you made |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them changes how ads and analytics behave, but every tool keeps working.
I use this information to understand which tools are useful, to fix performance problems, to stop abuse, and to show the ads that keep the site free. I don't sell personal information. I also have no file content to sell or share, because your files never reach me.
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Usage statistics |
| Google AdSense | Display advertising |
| Sponsor and affiliate partners | Sponsored product recommendations |
| Cloudflare | Hosting and content delivery |
| Google Fonts | Loading the fonts used on the site |
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, and I don't control how they handle data. Please read their policies if you want the details.
SquishyFile is not aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent me personal information, for example by email, write to me and I'll delete it.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to restrict how it's processed, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Since SquishyFile has no accounts and keeps no profiles of visitors, most of these choices are made through the consent banner, your browser's cookie settings or the opt-out links above. For anything else, email me and I'll handle it.
I take reasonable steps to protect the little information described here, but no website can promise perfect security. Your files stay protected by your own device and browser, since they never leave it. Information collected by analytics and ad partners may be processed in other countries, including the United States, where privacy law may differ from yours.
When I change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top changes with it.
