I have tracked down the issue. WxWidgets had a problem with an empty WX.row. In former wxwidgets versions this did not cause a warning.
No, I think it is wxwidgets-3.2.4. I have used the Nix scripts and these provide wxwidgets-3.2.4, but the underlying Debian has wxgtk3.0.

Is it possible to use Reiser4 with FUSE in user space? NTFS works this way. I guess it would be possible to have a boot partition on a Linux supported file system and have a main partition formatted as Reiser4.

I try to run imagemount, but it does not seem to have an effect. I have not used NBD (Network Block Device) before. I run the example from the manpage: $ imagemount -d /dev/nbd0 -f mypartition.partclone -r Launched in daemon mode: All logging output being written to the system log. It does not emit an error. Is /dev/nbd0 a device that must exist before running imagemount or is it something that imagemount creates? If the first case applies, how would I create /dev/nbd0? If the second case applies,...

Ok, I have now: $ cat ~/.editorconfig [*] charset = latin1 Yet, running xnedit ~/programming/project/source.txt opens the text with UTF-8.
Hm, latest commit is from April, 28th. Ah, no there is an editorconfig branch.

Wow, that's a great way to solve this problem! Never heard of editorconfig before.

Which version supports UTF-8? And does it still support Latin-1?
That's normal Paste (without SHIFT), right?
$ nedit -version NEdit 5.7 Jan 14, 2017 Built on: Linux, x86-64, GNU C Built at: Jan 17 2021, 02:16:15 With Motif: (Untested) 2.3.8 [@(#)Motif Version 2.3.8] Running Motif: 2.3 [unknown] Server: The X.Org Foundation 12010000 Visual: 24-bit TrueColor (ID 0x21, Default) Locale: de_DE
Better example: Insert aaa aaa aaa columnar into abcdefgh abcdefgh abcdefgh abcdefgh abcdefgh abcdefgh you obtain: abcdefgh abaaacdefgh abaaacdefgh abaaacdefgh ab cdefgh abcdefgh
You are right. The example was not good. But if you imagine it would be a good example, the effect would still be that a trailing line is affected that should not be affected in my opinion.
Paste Column affects the trailing line

I worked some days with ibus deinstalled and so far it has solved my problem. Thanks a lot for your remark!
I can confirm that my Debian Bullseye has ibus: $ dpkg --list ibus .... ii ibus 1.5.23-2 amd64 Intelligent Input Bus - core whereas my Debian Buster has no ibus installed: $ dpkg --list ibus dpkg-query: no packages found matching ibus I will go to uninstall 'ibus' and check whether the problem goes away.
