Aphelion is a desktop app for people who want character conversations, creative writing and coding help from models running on their own computer. It works offline after the first model download and doesn't require an account.
Match the writing helper to where you write
Desktop helpers can rewrite selected text across apps, while email tools work inside a mail client or connect to your mailbox. Note-taking integrations are useful when your writing already lives in that app. Compare those workflows before choosing a general chat app for every writing task.
Check the model connection and the text the integration sends to it. A self-hosted email assistant can still connect to an external mail provider or cloud model; self-hosted does not mean that email becomes entirely offline. Review drafted replies and changes to your inbox before relying on automatic actions.
