What Is a Floor Plan Generator?
From a written brief to a visual layout
A floor plan generator turns a description of a space into a layout you can review. Tell FloorPlanBot which rooms you need, how large the building should be, and what matters most: an open kitchen, a quiet bedroom wing, a home office, or room for storage. The floor plan generator proposes a top-down concept image so you can explore the relationship between spaces before committing to a detailed design.
This online floor plan maker helps you start a conversation about a house layout. It does not replace measured drawings or professional design work. Check room sizes, doors, circulation, and site constraints against your own information. Treat every generated plan as a draft to inspect, annotate, and improve.
Who can use a house layout creator?
Homeowners can compare renovation ideas, renters can think through furniture placement, and designers can organize an early client brief. A floor plan creator is also useful when a written list of rooms is difficult to picture. You can test different priorities and share the preferred concept with the person responsible for the next stage.
Start with a single level and a clear purpose. For an existing home, record fixed features such as stairs, exterior walls, plumbing, and windows. For a new concept, state the building dimensions and essential room relationships. The more specific your brief, the easier it is to judge whether the result answers it.
How to Create a Floor Plan in 3 Steps
1. Describe your space
Enter the room list, approximate dimensions, and preferred arrangement into the floor plan generator above. Keep all measurements in one unit system. For example: “Single-story house, 40 by 30 feet, two bedrooms, one bathroom, open living and kitchen, entrance on the south side.” Mention fixed features and the changes you want to explore.
2. Generate and review
Sign in with Google, check your available allowance, and submit the brief. One successful AI task costs one credit; processing time varies. When the image is ready, compare it with the original requirements. Look for missing rooms, unclear door positions, and paths that cross awkwardly through private areas before choosing a direction.
3. Edit and export
Open the result in the editor to add annotations, record corrections, or request an AI revision. Download a PNG or PDF for discussion. Schematic DXF is available for template geometry or reviewed image linework. Keep the original measurements with the exported concept so a later reviewer can distinguish verified dimensions from suggestions.
Floor Plan Editor
The floor plan editor brings your next actions together. Upload a PNG or JPEG, open a generated result, or start with a schematic template. Rename template rooms, add notes, and mark the details that need attention. Image annotations sit over the picture; they do not automatically move the building geometry beneath them.
After using the floor plan creator, use a separate revision instruction when the arrangement itself needs to change. Describe one important change at a time and compare the revised image with the earlier version. This makes it easier to notice unwanted changes to neighboring rooms.
AI Room & Home Design
Redesign one room from a photo
AI room design explores interior appearance from a reference photograph. Choose a room type and style to compare colors, furniture, and finishes. This is useful when you already understand the layout but want a different atmosphere. Review whether windows, openings, and furniture proportions still make sense in the proposed image.
Find a consistent style across your home
AI home design starts from a broader description of your home and design preferences. Use it to discuss a coordinated palette for living, sleeping, cooking, and bathing spaces. Interior inspiration and a measured plan answer different questions; return to the floor plan generator when you need to explore room relationships.
Floor Plan Rendering
A line drawing explains arrangement; a rendered concept helps people imagine the space. With floor plan rendering, upload a plan image and choose a dollhouse, eye-level, or axonometric presentation. Compare how each viewpoint communicates the same proposal to a client or household member.
The result is a flat image with a three-dimensional appearance, not an editable 3D model. Check the reference and output side by side: the AI can change proportions and details. Use the rendering for discussion, then have the underlying design checked before practical work begins.
Free Floor Plan Templates
Free floor plan templates help when you would rather begin with an example than a blank brief. Browse compact studios, family layouts, and open living concepts. Compare the entrance, shared spaces, bedrooms, and storage before picking a starting point.
The library distinguishes illustrative plan images from the editor’s schematic templates. You can annotate images and request AI changes; schematic templates provide editable room labels and boundary linework. Neither type is a ready-to-build architectural package. Adapt the example to your actual dimensions and keep notes about what still needs verification.
Room Floor Plan Generator
Use the room floor plan generator for a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, or home office. Enter the room dimensions and describe the furniture or activities it must support. A smaller brief makes it easier to compare options such as a different bed position or a clearer route between doors.
Measure the actual furniture as well as the room. Leave space for opening doors, pulling out chairs, and reaching storage. The image is a planning aid; it does not calculate or certify clearance requirements. For connected rooms and circulation through an entire home, use the main floor plan generator.
Unit Converters
Our unit converters are free and work without an account. Convert centimeters to inches, meters to feet, or square feet to square meters before writing your brief. Each conversion page includes a formula and reference values.
Length and area use different factors. Convert wall lengths as lengths and floor areas as areas, then label the units beside every number. Keep extra decimal places during calculations and round only the final result to the precision appropriate for your measurement.
FAQ
Is this a free floor plan generator?
Templates and converters are free to explore. AI generation uses credits, including the free allowance shown in your account. Availability and fair-use limits apply. Optional paid packs and monthly plans are listed on the pricing page.
Do I need to register?
Google sign-in is required before submitting an AI generation or edit. You can browse examples, use converters, and try local template tools without signing in. Saved private work and credit history belong to your account.
Which file formats can I export?
Use PNG or PDF for image sharing. Schematic DXF contains template boundaries or reviewed, calibrated image linework. AI output is a raster image; it is not automatically a fully editable CAD drawing.
Can I edit the generated floor plan?
Yes. Open the result in the editor for annotations and AI revisions. Review each revision carefully because the model may change details beyond your instruction. Direct wall dragging is not currently available.
Can I upload an existing plan?
Open a PNG or JPEG in the editor. Use a clear, upright image with readable labels. Confirm that you have permission to upload it and avoid sensitive plans; AI submissions are processed by our external provider.
Are the dimensions accurate?
Numbers in generated images need independent checking. A floor plan generator cannot verify on-site measurements, structural conditions, or building regulations. Use a qualified professional for construction decisions.
How long does generation take?
Processing depends on the request, queue, and provider availability. The workspace shows task status and saves completed results to your account. Failed tasks do not deduct user credits.
Can I use a result for a real project?
Use the concept to discuss ideas and prepare a clearer brief. Review our terms and rights in your reference material before sharing. Obtain appropriate professional review before building or submitting plans for approval.
