The government of India, in a boost for self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector in the country, has approved the plan to produce over five lakh AK-203 assault rifles at Korwa, Amethi, per sources. The deal is worth Rs 5,124 crore. It will replace in-service INSAS Rifle inducted over three decades back.
