License and Permitted Use

What you can build with Codapult, how project scope and updates work, and which source-code uses are restricted.

Codapult is licensed, not sold. Your purchase grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to use the source under the terms that apply to your license. This page summarizes the practical boundaries; the Terms of Service and your purchase record are authoritative.

What you can build

You may modify Codapult and use it to build, deploy, host, and operate your own applications and services, including commercial SaaS products. You may charge your end users for access through subscriptions, usage, seats, or one-time fees.

You may also build products for clients when the project capacity of your license covers that work. Each license has a project limit; check the terms attached to your purchase to confirm how many end products are covered. A client project uses project capacity just like a product you build for yourself.

End users of your hosted application do not need a separate Codapult license, provided they receive access to your application and not to Codapult source code.

What counts as a project

The Terms of Service define an End Product as an application, website, or service that incorporates Codapult or a derivative of it. Your license sets the number of End Products you may build.

Treat a distinct product as a separate project unless your purchase terms say otherwise. Staging and development environments for the same product are not, by themselves, separate products; a new brand or independently operated application may be. If a planned use is ambiguous, confirm it against the Terms of Service before relying on it.

Source-code restrictions

Your license does not transfer ownership of Codapult. You may not:

  • Resell, redistribute, publish, sublicense, or share Codapult source code, repository access, archives, or license credentials.
  • Sell Codapult or a derivative as a template, starter kit, boilerplate, code generator, or competing product, including after substantial modification.
  • Publish Codapult or its derivatives in a public repository or under an open-source license.
  • Use the source as training data for AI/ML models or code-generation tools. Using coding assistants for development work on your licensed project is allowed.
  • Remove or alter proprietary and copyright notices.

In short: you may sell access to an application you build; you may not sell or distribute Codapult source. The full list of restrictions is in Sections 4–6 of the Terms of Service.

Updates and support

Your license specifies an update period. When it ends, you may continue to use and maintain the source version and updates you received during that period, but you no longer receive later updates, bug fixes, or features. Any priority support included with your license ends with its stated support period.

The update period and support scope depend on the terms attached to your purchase. Your hosting, domain, database, and third-party provider accounts are separate from the Codapult license.
