If I could I will give

If I could I will give none. I will. Not one star. This guy's Ariel Reyes, very bossy did not understood that Immigration is not giving any more forms when you land in Mexico. We had a document to get paid for a Car from Jeep Doge Chrisler car dealership in playa del carmen on Federal. We never got the car on top when you go to the bank this guy Ariel Reyes was rude and told us there is nothing that they can do to cash the document to be paid 10,000. Pesos; because we had no Immigration form. We show that now over 6 months Mexico is not giving any more forms to filled it up. Instead they just stamp the passport with the days that .Mexican Immigration is giving. Please see attachment or check on Google for those that had travel during the last 6 months to Mexico there are NO more Immigration forms to filled up just stamp on your passport. Meanwhile here we are between these 2 companies that car dealership that can understand and the bank or the dealership does not want to give the money back and there is no Immigration form to show only the stamp on the passport. Meanwhile No car, No money. Run away doing business in Mexico!

Fraud & Incompetence are the rule at Citibanamex

On April 27, 2021, I applied for and was granted a Costco Citibanamex credit card. The application was processed by a Banamex employee who works in a kiosk at the Costco Querétaro store, an hour's drive away from where I live in San Miguel de Allende.

Part of the deal was that I had to agree to the annual automatic renewal of my executive membership using that credit card, which I thought was fine at the time—but in the course of a year, it became a nightmare.

As it turns out, the employee who processed my card erroneously entered my nationality as Mexican even though I presented my U.S. passport and stated that my nationality is USA. They also failed to check a box indicating my marital status. But I didn't know that. Somehow I was able to use the temporary card for that day's purchase at Costco anyway; and once the plastic card arrived in the mail, I was able to validate it at a Banamex ATM. So I thought everything was fine.

A few weeks later, when I tried to use the card to buy gas for our home, it was rejected. Then I tried using it at a few more places and again it was rejected.

Maybe I can only use the card at Costco, I thought—but the next time I shopped there, they also rejected the card. That's when I made the first of several dozen phone calls to the number on the back of the card and found out that the Banamex employee had made an error in the application and that's why the card wasn't working. So I asked them to cancel the card and they said they couldn't do that. I would have to cancel online or go back to the same Costco store where I got the card and ask them to cancel it. I did that, and they said no, we can't do it here, you have to visit a bank branch.

There is only one Banamex branch in San Miguel, so on May 26, 2021, I went there and after three hours, all they did was to fill out a form asking for a change in my account data. Supposedly they sent that to headquarters, and they said they'd call me within 10 days, but of course I got no phone call.

Meanwhile, I knew I had a balance from that initial purchase at Costco, and they had told me the payment due date would be around the 20th of June (not May, for some reason). Sure enough, I got a statement in the mail dated "April 27 - June 4" with a due date of June 25.

On June 24, I went to the bank and paid the full balance. Then I got in line to speak with a banker and told them it had been a month since they had filed a change of my account data, and I hadn't heard back from them despite their promise to call within 10 days. After a phone call to HQ, the agent said all she could do was file the same form again.

I never got another statement from Citibanamex, and never used the card again, since it hadn't worked. In fact, I put the card in a drawer and forgot all about it. And they never called about the account data—which meant that I was never assigned a code to set up online banking, so not only was I not receiving statements on paper, I wasn't receiving them electronically either, and I couldn't manage my account online because I couldn't access it.

Almost a year later, in late March 2022, I started getting phone calls from Citibanamex telling me to pay my balance.

I told them I couldn't possibly have a balance because the card was not usable. I figured they had canceled it because of their employee's errors.

But they said no, in their system it says the card is validated and that the charge was for the automatic renewal of my Costco executive membership. I said I hadn't gotten the benefit of the card as per the contract with Banamex, and that I had asked for them to cancel the card when it had a zero balance and they had refused. They told me I would have to go to the Costco store and talk to them, or call their customer assistance line. The bank couldn't reverse the charges, they said.

Of course at Costco, they pointed back to the bank, saying they couldn't do anything because it is the bank's automated system that accepted the charge, and that they didn't care which card I used but I had to pay the membership. I said okay, if I pay here at the store, will you refund the charge to the Citibanamex card? No, we can't do that, they said. You need to ask at the bank.

So back to the bank I went—several more times, in fact—but they refused to do anything until I paid. They said once I paid, I could cancel the card. I said no, I tried that and you wouldn't do it. They said I should talk to Costco and get them to reverse the charges, then go online and cancel the card myself.

I told them I have no online access to my account. They said, "Well, you have to validate the card at the ATM." I did that when I first got it, I said. Do it again, they told me—so I tried but the ATM would not accept my PIN.

By mid-April, I was getting up to 10 calls a day from the Citibanamex collections agency demanding payment. Finally on April 22, I went to the bank and paid. Banamex won, and I have a useless card. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Customer service has declined over the…

Customer service has declined over the last few years, joined in 2018 and it has gone downhill, they closed many branches and OXXO will not accept deposits, you have to wait at least 1 hour plus at the bank, I called customer service today and was transferred 3 times and finally just cut off the line. I will be closing my account.

Citibanamex horrible customer service

Citibanamex if you need an account in Mexico do not seek one out with Citibanamex. The customer service is not bad it's horrible. Eveytime I have had any problem when I go to the bank and attempt to resolve I'm lied to, informed I caused to problem, basically it's never their fault. Recently I tried to buy a dishwasher at WalMart. I asked for it to be 18 sin intrestes. I waited for the dishwasher to arrive and it never did. I called walmart and they canceled the order. They sent me a refund verification number two days later. I took three month for Banamex to process the refund. During that time they charged my card three times for the monthly payment. I was finally able to get them to remove the charge from my card but only after repeatedly showing them the email from Walmart with the refund number. It took two plus hours at the bank to resolve this issue and the employees were very, very, rude. I am a priority customer and I'm not suppose to have to wait in the longer lines. The bank was nearly empty the morning I attempted to resolve this issue. I identified myself as a priority customer, exactly the way it says to on my mobile app. They told me to have a seat along the wall. I watched as customer after customer came in and received service. after 30 mins I asked why I wasn't being waited on, "oh, we didn't know you were a priority customer." then after the manager was called to explain to me why it was my fault the refund was never applied to my account she told me "the customer that were attended to before you all had appointments."

Just do yourself a big favor and bank somewhere.

My money is so safe that even I cannot…

My money is so safe that even I cannot access it.

I have never spent so much time trying to access my own money that is locked away a bank. Nor have I wasted so much time trying to pay my taxes online.

Since I started with my Citibanamex account, I had to change my cellphone number because the number I had was assigned to another account, and I cannot use my physical card number as my online log-in because it is assigned to a different person.

The Citibanamex cellphone App updated a couple months ago and since then I had to re-register my account. You'd assume that if the account had to be completely re-registered and I wouldn't have anything set-up, but in fact after logging back in almost everything was still in the account, except the NetKey. (And woe be to those who wish to pay their taxes without a registered NetKey.)

I have an active physical NetKey, but somehow the NetKey was disactivated when Citibanamex updated their cell phone App. No problem, you may think, there is a website for online banking. Unfortunately, this also requires a registered NetKey but with no way to actually register said key.

Citibanamex has tutorials on registering NetKeys. The tutorials have upbeat music with pictures of people with smiling faces. I’m sure these tutorials would be more useful if the situation they describe actually showed up in real life—there are no buttons to click to activate the NetKey, there are no links, the option to register your NetKey doesn't show up in the cell phone App.

I have tried messaging the bots and on-call support, and calling the support lines but no one has answered. Now I am dreading wasting 2-3 hours (based on past experience) of my working day in the bank itself having someone explain to me that I did something wrong to make this happen (also based on past experience).

Why sign up with Citibanamex in the first place? Unfortunately, I did not have a choice, the company I work for has required Citibanamex as the bank to which we will be paid because Citibanamex, apparently, has excellent security. It's too bad the consumer experience is so horrible.

Hopefully this review will help you when you're looking for a Mexican bank. If you do choose Citibanamex, you will need to plan for lost time as you try to sort out continual customer related issues with their team, and you may also need a stiff drink when you decide to attempt your banking at home.

Worst service ever! FRAUD

Worst service ever!! I been trying for a month in person and on phone to cancel a credit card, after talking with 18 different bank agents and nobody can cancel my credit card or give me some proof of cancelation. I was told by a bank teller that my line of credit was cancelled on its own and didn't need to cancel it. Next thing I receive in the mail is a bill to pay interest with card not being used at all. Even the manager at bank couldn't and wouldn't cancel it, so frustrating!!!

Worst customer service ever seen

I've had to deal with bad customer service but this is certainly the worst I've seen in my life. After having blocked my payment card for a payment that was considered fraudulent which was not, I have been fighting for 2 days and 6 hours of communication to unblock this card with no results. They pass me from service to service without any solution to me.
An extremely rare incompetence
