Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 52 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers found the product quality to be poor, with covers disintegrating, leaking, and becoming waterlogged within a short period, often much sooner than expected. Reviewers also expressed significant dissatisfaction with the warranty, stating that the company frequently refused to honor it, citing chemical damage or other excuses. The pricing was another point of contention, with many feeling that the high cost did not reflect the poor durability and frequent need for replacements. Customers also reported issues with orders, including receiving incorrect items, covers that did not fit, or significant delays in delivery without proper communication. However, some people mentioned positive experiences with the ordering process, finding the website easy to use and receiving their covers undamaged and well-packaged.

Do NOT buy a cover from this company!

Do NOT buy a cover from this company!! They do not stand behind their own product. I paid for the upgraded material and it didn't even last a month before the stitching came out of one of the corners and the strap fell off. It did not rip. The stitching failed. Paid roughly $1k for a cover that is now junk.

This company has a long history of not…

This company has a long history of not backing legitimate warranty claims and has a large # of them with the #1 being vapor barrier failures. This is because the plastic they use is inferior and fails, and typically fails within the 1st 3 years. This causes the foam core to absorb water and and loose most all insulation capacity, and become very heavy to open, due to the weight of the water. This essential renders the cover nearly useless, and a huge waste of money. We experienced this ourselves with a 2022 The Cover Guy purchase, even having purchased the double wrap in hopes to prevent this issue. We have an ozonator and use almost no chemicals, so nay claim on chemical damage by them is only a tactic to avert honoring their warranty. Be sure to check the reviews & BBB of any company you choose to buy a new cover from...

I bought the blue closed cell foam…

I bought the blue closed cell foam thermal blanket. After about 5 months of using, it started to disintegrate. Little blue foam particles floating around the spa and gunking up the soa filter. I inquired about a replacement/or even a partial refund but their rep stated that it was from normal use and they could only give me a 10% discount on my next purchase. I would be crazy tp buy this product again. I am using bromine as my sanitizer in my spa.

FAILS TO HONOUR THEIR WARRANTY

I purchased a premium replacement hot tub cover from The Cover Guy Spa Covers in December 2021, paying extra for their Barrier Seal Upgrade, which was advertised as including a 7-year warranty against water ingress. I chose this upgrade because I expected it to provide greater durability and peace of mind. The total cost was £959.96.
Within just four months, one of the lifter handles tore under the weight of the cover. Instead of replacing what was clearly a failure under warranty, this was the response I received:
"I have been sent your concern about the handle location. Previous emails were in regards to rubber handles and not specific location. Our standard build is for two handles, centred one each side of the cover. Engineering and design have selected this place for specific reasons. Any other option we need specifics and diagrams to send to production. There is no way to add handles to a cover without remaking the vinyl skin. We can quote you on this if you want this route."
Rather than accepting responsibility for a handle that failed after only four months, they suggested I pay to have the cover altered. In my opinion, this should have been dealt with under warranty.
The problems didn't stop there. The cover then suffered from water ingress, causing it to become waterlogged and so heavy that it was almost impossible to lift. This is precisely the type of failure the Barrier Seal Upgrade was supposed to prevent and why I paid extra for it.
Instead of honouring what was advertised as a 7-year warranty against water ingress, The Cover Guy refused to replace the cover. They ignored the fact that I had purchased their premium upgrade specifically to avoid this issue and instead offered me a discount towards buying another cover from them.
Why would I spend more money with a company whose premium product failed and who then refused to stand behind it?
A hot tub cover costing almost £1,000, complete with every recommended upgrade and a 7-year water ingress warranty, should not fail in this way, and the warranty should mean exactly what customers are led to believe it means.
My biggest disappointment isn't just that the cover failed—it's that The Cover Guy failed to stand behind their own product when it mattered most.
DON’T BUY FROM THE COVER GUY !!

Don't buy from them! If you still decide to purchase from them don't buy the lifter plates!!

We purchased a spa cover from Thecoverguy.com. The shipping took WAY longer than they originally stated (about a month total). We paid extra to have the lifter plates installed to connect to our existing lifter (Our cover was over $800). They didn't let us know that the lifter plates are INSIDE the barrier and the skin so you have to drill through the skin and barrier to attach them which will allow moisture into the cover as well as void the warranty!! Now we have to purchase another lifter (which we will not do from The Cover Guy!). Very poor business.

Ordered spa cover last year and it's moldy

Ordered spa cover only last year, the foam has mildew, the cover is coming apart, very low quality product. I bought a new cover with another company this year. Not worth the money and they overcharge and they were several delays in shipment process. If I could give zero star I would. Not sure how this company is still running with this horrible quality of product.

Cover is fine

Missing part of our order. Cover is fine, but didn’t receive part of our order despite contacting them. We ordered a step that was a promotion with the cover purchase and it was excluded in the delivery. Overcharged for shipping with absolutely no notice. Would not order again because their sales seem shady despite the cover seeming to be ok.

I ordered the hot tub cover and they sent the wrong one. I showed them pics of what was wrong and they refused to correct it. They showed me how I ordered it (it was correct) and still did not fix the situation. Do NOT order from them!!!

Ordered on May 15, arrived June 5.

Ordered on May 15, 2026 and it showed up on June 5, 2026. Order process on their website was easy. Type in your hottub model and it will calculate your measurements so you don’t have to. From there you can customize color, strap location and skirt length. The only thing I didn’t like was that there were no order updates at all; a few weeks went by and I was beginning to feel a little uneasy. Oh well, just wait. I took off one star for that. On June 3 I got the shipping notification and it arrived in 2 days later. It fits and looks great, now let’s see how long it lasts…

Ordered the cover

Ordered the cover, then after we ordered they asked for the specs again... we sent them over the specs again... instead of finalizing our order... the canceled it... which mistakes happen... but then there was no phone call or email explaining the confusion. They just sent an email restarting the process, with no apology until after I was wondering what the heck was going on... I had to call them for them to explain there mistakes then send me an email to just pay a total without me resending the specs to them... very confusing the entire process. So long story short. We went elsewhere

I ordered a flip cover and hydraulic lifting arm. Lifting arm was delivered within a couple weeks but no tub cover. When cover finally showed up a month later it was a rolling cover and not a flip cover. The Cover Guy refused to make the order right. They are misleading, dishonest and despicable people!

Absolutely terrible quality and service…

Absolutely terrible quality and service do not order! The lid leaks and foam has already been filled with water after 6 weeks despite paying extra for better quality outer layer. Customer service is non existent just excuse after excuse with no commitment to repair or replace. Cannot speak to anyone just email after email. Hundreds of pounds wasted.

I give it zero stars

I give it zero stars, one of the most dishonest disingenuous company. I would be ashamed to be an employee working there. I am now on my fifth issue with them and they keep failing to resolve any of the issues with their poor product. I would recommend throwing a blanket over your hot tub to cover it instead of getting a cover from these people

Buyer Beware!

Buyer Beware!
I wish that I had read the reviews before I purchased my 3rd cover in March 2024.
I have purchased 3 covers from The Cover Guy over the last 15-18 years, the 1st 2 lasted 6-7 years each, this last one lasted less than 2. when it arrived it looked fine, however it didn't take long before it became heavier and heavier and it was waterlogged
This company used to be based in Ontario, now they manufacture in Mexico and I don't know where their sales office is.
Their "3 year hassle free" warranty is a joke, they do not honour it, just read the reviews and most are the same after 1-2 years of use. they ask you for pics when you file a claim and they play the game of supposedly showing them to production and the outcome is always the same, this company, quality and customer service is total garbage! I strongly suggest that your do a thorough research before you purchase a new hot tub cover

Don't waste your money!

I purchased a premium replacement hot tub cover from The Cover Guy Spa Covers December 2024 and paid extra for their Barrier Seal Upgrade. I also purchased the bonnet cover that goes over this cover as they recommended ($800+ total) In April 2026 (about 15 months of use), we discovered condensation & mold underneath the plastic on both sides of the cover. You can clearly see where the steam from under the cover seeped up through the tape on the sides of the cover. This appears to be either defective materials (tape) or careless workmanship. Warranty tag says MADE IN MEXICO. The Cover Guy Warranty stated it was a water logging issue and only covered for a year under warranty. They could care less about me purchasing the Barrier Seal Upgrade. They offered me a 10% discount on the purchase of a new cover as compensation. They said my cover showed signs of chemical damage from my pictures even though I am an experienced hot tub owner and very tentative to water chemistry. * DO an AI Google search & ask “Is the Cover Guy Spa Cover a good purchase?” There are so so many complaints regarding this company. I don’t understand how they can remain in business. Don’t waste your money!

Do not do business here- You will be the problem with any issues

Very disappointing experience. I ordered a custom hot tub cover in November, it arrived in January, and the fold was on the completely wrong side — totally unusable.
I provided the full spa model and dimensions, yet the company blamed me instead of acknowledging that their system allowed an incompatible option. No verification, no accountability, and no willingness to fix the issue.
After seeing many similar complaints from other customers, I filed a BBB complaint and a credit‑card dispute. Sharing this so others know what to expect before ordering.

Cover Guys Spa Covers - Caveat Emptor

Cover Guys Spa Covers – Caveat Emptor
Bottom line up top: Cover Guys spa covers are not designed to last long in a typical spa environment. The plastic enclosing the Styrofoam will deteriorate in two to three years, and the top will become waterlogged and very heavy. Cover Guys will not honor the warranty, citing chemical damage as an exception to their coverage. I strongly suggest you take your spa cover business elsewhere. It’s too late for me, but hopefully not for you.
On November 24, 2023, we ordered a spa cover from The Cover Guy for our Hot Spring Spa. This cover was the Extreme edition that included the following: 2 lb high density foam, Vapor proof barrier seal/energy shield, and a fully insulated hinge. The total cost was US$709.96. The tag on the cover said it was manufactured on December 4, 2023, and it arrived later in that month.
We paid a lot for this cover, and expected it to last 7 to 8 years, as our previous two covers did. The cover came with a seven year pro-rated warranty, which was a major factor in our decision to purchase from The Cover Guy.
A little more than two years later, we noticed that the top was becoming waterlogged and very heavy. When we unzipped and drained the top, we saw that the plastic bag enclosing the Styrofoam had rotted away. Further investigation revealed a corroded stabilization plate.
I contacted The Cover Guy about this issue on March 13, 2026. The representative requested pictures, which we provided. On March 16, 2026, the representative told us: “We regret to inform you that our production team has identified the damage as chemical-related, which falls outside the scope of our warranty coverage. However, we genuinely want to assist you in purchasing a new cover and are happy to extend a 10% discount on your next order.”
I informed them that we do not do anything unusual chemically with our spa. We use only chlorine specifically formulated for spas, we do not overchlorinate, and we do not use an ozonator or any other chemicals or shock treatments. In short, ours is a typical spa environment and the covers they make are not adequately designed to function in such an environment. In their response, they only repeated what they said before.
On March 18, 2023, The Cover Guy sent me a survey asking me how I would rate the support I received. I completed the survey and informed them that I was very dissatisfied. They did not respond.
Around this time, I saw a Facebook post/advertisement for the The Cover Guy and I posted about my experience in the comments. They responded, restating their stance along with the 10% off offer. I have heard nothing more from them.
This was the third spa cover we have purchased for this spa. The other two covers, from different manufacturers, lasted 7 to 8 years, and they failed because of deteriorating vinyl that was exposed to weather and seams that began to fail. Neither of those covers failed or became waterlogged due to deteriorating plastic.
Clearly, the failure of The Cover Guys spa cover is due to inadequate design, not chemicals.
We did not accept their 10% off cover, as it was clearly inadequate. If we did take it, we get a cover that would fail within three years. It made a lot more financial sense to order a new cover at full price from a reputable manufacturer that would last 7 to 8 years.
A bit of internet research revealed that our issue was not isolated. There are a great number of negative reviews out there about The Cover Guy spa covers, and not very many positive reviews. They have a major quality issue and they know it, but they will not admit it. Nor will they try to make it right with the customer, providing only a token counteroffer. I believe a class action suit is an appropriate response here, and I will be looking into it.
Bottom line: Cover Guys spa covers are not designed to last long in a typical spa environment.
