I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with OneMain Financial has been one of the most frustrating financial experiences I’ve ever had.
I went into this loan believing I was getting honest, straightforward information. During the process, I was told things that ultimately did not match how my loan actually worked. I later discovered that a much larger portion of my payments was going toward interest than I expected, making it feel almost impossible to make meaningful progress on the principal balance.
To make matters worse, I purchased optional protection products because I was led to believe they would help if I experienced financial hardship. When I needed that protection, my claim was denied based on limitations that were never clearly explained to me during the loan process. It left me paying for coverage that didn’t help when I needed it most.
I’ve made extra payments, paid ahead whenever I could, and genuinely tried to stay on top of my account. Instead of feeling like I was getting ahead, it often felt like I was stuck in a cycle where my balance barely moved.
My biggest disappointment isn’t just the loan itself—it’s the lack of transparency. Consumers deserve to fully understand what they’re signing, how their payments are applied, and exactly what optional products do and do not cover before making such an important financial decision.
I hope OneMain Financial takes customer concerns more seriously and focuses on providing clearer explanations so future borrowers can make truly informed decisions. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend OneMain Financial.
Just had a great experience working with Devin, she was upfront, knowledgeable, helpful and patient as she helped us get everything in order and settle on a loan we felt comfortable with. Very fashionable and courteous to boot. 10 out 10 would do again.
Very disrespectful tone and attitude. I simply asked what would be the monthly payments, he said well I’m not the one paying it so what would you like to pay. He kept laughing and talking in incomplete sentences. Please do better with customer service and training

Went through the online process and talked with a rep. Shortly after I received a message that my loan was approved. Never got a call after contacting them 3 times about my loan. Have been ignored ever since. No return calls as promised, nothing. Bad experience overall. Was a waste of time and took a hit to my credit rating to boot. Not recommended. Update: Finally got a callback saying my loan was now denied. Customer experience was really bad.

I have been working with One Main Financial for a few years now, and this specific location is all I have worked with. They are awesome individuals, and I have always had good experiences with the workers here. Recently, I called and got to work with a new worker by the name of Karissa. Still after years of working with this location I have more good things to say. First hand glance at a clients account such as mine and any worker would treat it as normal. It is the most caring workers that make your experience different. That is what Karissa did when I had the chance of working with her.
