Introduction
• The purpose of this presentation is to describe the charter of
team Hybrid, share a common goal (Levi and Askay, 2021) and
know how to behave in the team.
• Charters detail normal team member behaviors.
• The current presentation details the team charter for the Team
Hybrid.
• This includes a definition of Team Charter, Team Process and
details four Team Processes from the team of the current
authors.
• Additionally, the signed commitment of every member is
attached.
4
Definition: Team Charter
• Definition:
– Identify how teamwork activities will be managed.
– Provide explicit expectations of each role and work norms
• Purpose:
– Levi and Askay (2021): A plan for managing teamwork, including:
• Common goals, behavioral norms, meetings, conflict resolution,
and processes.
– Aaron, McDowell, and Herdman (2014): A documented set of team
norms and behaviors to guide teamwork.
• Insights:
– Similarities: Both focus on team member behavior.
– Differences:
• Levi and Askay (2021) highlight specific behaviors teams engage in.
5
Definition of Team Process
• Definitions:
– According Levi and Askay (2021), a successful team processes is
more than individual contribution, its combination of how members
interact, communicate and coordinate their efforts.
– Team process means “members’ interdependent acts that convert
inputs to outcomes through cognitive, verbal, and behavioral
activities directed toward organizing taskwork to achieve collective
goals” (Marks et al., 2001, p. 357).
• They are same because they recognize that team process is not sum of
individual outcomes but a collective effort to achieve goals.
• They are different because the second definitions makes emphasis on
organizing tasks whereas first definition doesn’t.
• For current powerpoint the authors will choose first definition.
6
Team Process: How we will behave in
our Team (Our Team Guidelines or Norms)
Every team should have their process to be followed. A well-defined process
ensures efficient completion of all tasks and assignments by all team members.
• If you are running a meeting, share the goals and summarize
the content with the team ahead of time. If you are attending
a meeting, review these items and prepare any questions or
input.
• Be on time for meetings. Management should ensure that all
meetings begin and end on time.
• During meetings, follow professional rules of etiquette and
make sure everyone has a chance to give input.
7
Team Process: How we will behave in
our Team (Our Team Guidelines or Norms)
• Complete all assignments and only accept work that you
can reasonably expect to complete successfully. Be willing
to say when a task is likely to exceed what you can
accomplish given your training level or current workload.
Doing this allows the team to work together to find
another solution.
• Respond to teammates emails/messages within 24 hrs.
• Be respectful to every teammate. Be aware of others
around you and take care to keep the working
atmosphere comfortable for everyone.
• Encourage one another. Listen to your teammates and be
open to feedback. Recognize your coworkers' successes.
8
Team Process: How we will behave in
our Team (Our Team Guidelines or Norms)
• Make sure you understand your task expectations
and ask for clarification if needed.
• Be willing to ask for help. If you notice that
a team member needs help, offer it or work
together to find a solution.
• Remember that you are part of a team. Prioritize
the group's success over individual ambition.
• If you miss a meeting, communicate with your teammates.
Class requirements: Report to the professor any member who
is not participating.
9
Team Process: Resolving Conflict
Conflict resolution is vital for every team because it helps
maintain a positive, comfortable environment for all team
members. Managing conflict quickly and effectively
demonstrates to employees you care about their well-
being and the positive culture of the workplace.
Follow these steps to appropriately and effectively
manage conflict on your team:
• Set a meeting and invite a whole team to resolve any
conflict.
• Have both parties explain their side of the conflict using
reflective “I” language rather than critical “You”
language. Ask each person to use factual wording and
avoid hurtful accusations.
10
Team Process: Resolving Conflict
• Once both sides have spoken, ask each party to
summarize the opposing point of view and let the team
leader decide what actions needs to be taken to resolve
any conflict.
• Summarize the conflict.
• Team leader should design an action plan against
specific issue after resolving a conflict.
• Once you’ve selected a solution, create an action plan
for moving forward. Everyone in the room should know
what’s expected of them at the close of the meeting.
Make sure all parties are clear on the next steps to
avoid confusion and further conflict.
• Implement the plan.

Team Development
Stage One: Forming: Members are polite, confused about their positions,
and rely on a leader for guidance. Our classmates may interact carefully.
Stage Two: Storming: As people express their viewpoints, conflicts
ensues, and cliques might form. Challenges to power or group norms
are visible.
Stage Three: Norming: Norming helps members establish ground rules,
build trust, and interact more effectively. Cohesion improves, and roles
are clarified.
Stage Four: Performing: The team works efficiently, focused on
assignments with minimum supervision. Members are highly motivated
and encourage one another (Levi & Askay, 2021).
Stage Five: Adjourning: Tasks are completed, and team members reflect
on accomplishments. To conclude the team, our class team could plan a
final meeting or presentation to celebrate achievement.
We believe that we are in Norming stage. We aspire to be at
Adjourning stage at the end.
