What is a Hospital Information
system
• It is an information system where data and information
handled in a hospital environment.
• It is basically designed to manage patients and the
information related to them.
• The health status of the patients shall be gathered and
predicted.
Problems encountered
• Paper-based systems generally cause disadvantages and
problems to hospital when handling data and information
• Safe recording the patients details cannot be guaranteed
as they can be potentially destroyed by fire and water.
• There are possible chances of misplacing data and
information by the staffs.
Purpose
• The main objective for designing system is to manage
patient data and information in centralized way.
• This system shall replace the traditional methods of
entering and storing data and information using paper
• To provide a better health service to patients with
tremendous accuracy.
Functions
• Make appointments with respective doctors.
• Manage staff and patient reservations
• Conduct payments and other transactions online.
• Perform live conversations with doctor regarding about
health tips.
• Manage staff and customer accounts within the
information system
• Upload and watch demo videos on the sickness and
relevant cure
How it works?
• The hospital information system shall function as an online system
spanning across the relevant hospital network through the intranet
• In this system, database servers are used to store information on
the medicines that are required to cure the relevant sickness
• Appointment to the respective doctors shall be made online
• It shall also be used to manage patient and payment records
• Since this information system consumes the facilities of the world
wide web, it can be constantly updated for any necessary changes
