BS Nursing - Level I
Define the following terms:

a. Motherboard
●​ A motherboard is the foundational unit and central hub— considered the most important. It is where the
connections between a computer’s individual parts are found.
b. CPU
●​ The central processor (CPU) is what helps the hardware and software communicate with each other. It is
what carries out most tasks to be done
c. RAM
●​ RAM (random-access memory) is the computer’s short-term memory— where it can store temporary data
that’s easily accessible when needed.
d. GPU
●​ The GPU (graphics processing unit) is what converts data into visuals. It is what processes digital images
and it is essential in improving a computer’s graphics
e. Hard drive
●​ The hard drive is used for storing data in large quantities. This is where things such as media, files, and
backup data is often stored.
f. SSD
●​ The solid-state drive (SSD) is used for storing data using memory, and it is usually mostly used by booting
up operating systems, applications, and games due to its speed.
g. Power supply
●​ The power supply is what provides all components of a computer with power.
h. HDMI/VGA Monitor
●​ The HDMI is what connects the monitor to the system unit, while the monitor is what displays the
information that range from texts to images.
i. Keyboard
●​ The keyboard helps you accomplish basic tasks like creating documents, sending messages, and more.
j. Mouse
●​ The mouse is used for selecting items presented on the monitor and doing simple instructions through
clicking.
k. Speaker
●​ The speaker converts data being sent from things such as files or videos online and converts it into an
audio output, like music or audio files.
l. USB ports

●​ the USB ports are what allow computers to communicate with external devices such as keyboards, mouses,
speakers, data disks, USBs, and much more.
