SETTING NEW ADDRESS STYLE IN ORACLE R12 Introduction
An address style tells Oracle Applications how to format and arrange the address fields so that they best suit the address entry requirements of a particular country. Many countries can use the same address style although a country can only use one address style at a time. You assign address styles to countries using the Countries and Territories window. You can assign one of the address styles provided or you can create your own. Oracle Applications provides one default and five predefined address styles. These address styles cover the basic entry requirements of many countries. The different address styles provided are : Default, Japanese, Northern European and Southern European, South American, United Kingdom/Asia/Australasia, United States Example of Business Scenario for which setting new address style in oracle will be used is: If we need to add country specific address style formats for addresses information which are stored in the different core modules of Oracle Apps including Receivables (for Customer and Remit to Addresses), Payables (Supplier and Payment Addresses), Banks (Bank Branch addresses)
Adding a new address style for creating customer and defining location in Inventory
If we have a need to add a new address style for India, the following steps should be followed to define this new India address style. 1. Setting Geography Hierarchy Responsibility: Trading Community Manager Navigation: Trading Community -> Administration-> Geography Hierarchy Define the country structure for India For the selected country, define the hierarchical structure of geography types to establish how geographies can be related, the types of geographies you can define for that country and the geography types available for geography or tax validation.

2. Defining Descriptive Flexfield Segments to define India address style
Responsibility: Application Developer Navigation: Flexfield ->descriptive -> segments We have different types of address styles such as Customer address, Remit to Addresses, Supplier address, Payment Address and Bank Branch addresses. The following screen shots shows various DFF for different address
Let us proceed by defining address style for customer address. In DFF for Receivables Address enter India in the context field values
Click on segments to enter address format for India The following screenshot gives you an idea of how to setup database columns for your India address style
In the same way it is done for Human Resource location address
This is used to setup location in Inventory
3. Adding address style to the address style lookup
Responsibility: Application developer Navigation: Application -> Lookups -> Application Object Library
Query the ADDRESS_STYLE lookup Add new India address style Enable this style by checking the Enabled check box.
4. Assigning the address style to the appropriate country using the Countries and Territories window.
Responsibility: Payables Vision operation Navigation: Setup -> Countries Attach the India Address Style created to the India Save the record
5. Validation of Address and Tax
Geography Hierarchy information can be used for geography validation, which ensures that addresses have valid geographic information, such as the correct combination of city, state, and postal code. Responsibility: Trading Community Manager Navigation: Trading Community -> Administration-> Geography Hierarchy
Click on manage validation for India
This completes the setup for the new India address style, now you can use this new address style while adding new India Customers, Suppliers and also for defining inventory locations. See screenshot below on how the Customer Form and location form displays the new India address style
