List the advantages of networked computing relative to standalone computing
Answer:
Distinguish between client/server and peer-to-peer networks.
Answer:
All the models have their strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate applications that make them suitable
for use. An understanding of these differences will assist in choosing suitable approaches for different
networking requirements. The primary difference between these two terms is that, in a peer-to-peer
network, every node can ask for assistance and deliver services. While in a client-server network, the
client nodes demand services and the server node answers with assistance.
A client-server network acts as a medium via which consumers access services and resources from a
central computer, with the help of WAN (wide-area network) or LAN (local area network). The Client-
server network is mainly used for game hosting, web services, and personal networks operated in
organizations. A client-server network can be implemented on a single computer system, although it is
most typically used across many locations. Multiple computers or humans may now communicate and
share information thanks to this technology.
Examples are: Web application, email, DNS, file sharing, database management system, social medias,
and so forth.
Meanwhile, a peer-to-peer network authorizes you to link two or more computers to a single system. It
is basically a circulated application architecture that splits tasks between peers. In the networking world,
a peer is a node that delivers the exact functionality as another. For example, two PCs in a network are
peers. In a P2P network, each peer connects directly with others and shares resources such as files,
processing power, or network bandwidth. One of the main advantages of P2P networks is their
decentralization, which makes them more resistant to censorship and network failures. In addition, P2P
networks can more efficiently utilize resources, as each peer on the network can contribute resources
such as bandwidth, processing power, or storage capacity. In structured P2P networks, peers organize
into a specific structure that allows each to oversee a specific portion of the network. This structure
promotes efficiency across the network by having a set system to determine which peer is responsible
for finding content based on a user query.
Some examples of P2P networks include:
BitTorrent: A file-sharing protocol that allows users to share large files over a P2P network
Gnutella: An early P2P file-sharing network that enables participants to search for and share files with
other users directly
Bitcoin: A digital currency utilizing blockchain technology and a decentralized structure to provide secure
and transparent transactions
Skype: A communication platform that uses P2P networking to provide voice and video calls
List the elements common to all client/server networks
Answer:
Describe several specific uses for a network
Answer:
Identify some of the certifications available to networking professionals.
Answer:
Not all network certifications are the same, so knowing which one may best suit your situation is
essential. There are roughly four different types of network-related IT certifications:
Entry-Level Certifications: These certifications are for individuals just starting a career in the network.
These are suitable for people currently studying IT or with some practical work experience. These
certificates show that you have your basis covered.
Cloud Networking Certifications: Cloud certifications are some of the most sought-after, mainly because
of the wide adoption of cloud computing. Major cloud providers, including hyperscalers, have their own
cloud professional certifications.
Security-Focused Certification: Many in-demand IT certifications exclusively focus on cybersecurity.
These certification test skills are related to threat detection, vulnerability management, and data
security/privacy regulations compliance. Cybersecurity remains the most challenging talent to hire,
making security-focused certification much more desirable.
Advanced/Expert Network Certifications: These certifications are for IT network professionals with years
of experience. These cover more complex concepts and topics in the field. Such exams and certifications
can help professionals land leadership roles.
Identify the kinds of skills and specializations that will help you excel as a networking
professional.
Answer:
These kinds of skills will help you in networking, such as technical skills, where you know networking
fundamentals like understanding IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and switching, and networking
protocols like HTTPS and IP. It also includes Cloud networking skills in Google Cloud networking and
Wireless networking, like Wi-Fi setup, optimization, and troubleshooting. Networking isn’t just about
technical skills, but also about communication and collaboration skills, like as sharing ideas with other
workers and leaders that we formulate other ideas and possible solutions. It helps with problem-solving,
which will create solutions efficiently and adaptability for staying updated when technology evolves. In
specializations, includes Cybersecurity Networking Specialist who secures and monitors networks, Cloud
Networking Engineer who manages cloud infrastructures, and Communications Specialist, that focuses
on communication systems.
3. Explain the importance and impact of networking in a business.
Answer:
Networking holds a significant role in business as a powerful tool for long-term success, growth, and
sustainability. The importance of networking is having connections that create new opportunities for
every business, as it can connect to other businesses that can have potential clients or partners that will
build a strong relationship between businesses, and having many contracts and collaborations.
Networking builds credibility that will give you recognition and earn positive images and trust from many
people, which makes others recommend working with you. Networking also allows you to share various
ideas with others for them to learn and practice that they will gain insights which will help you and them
stay updated and innovative. The impacts of networking in business are that it helps you grow efficiently
and enables you to have long-term clients and customers. It can give an advantage over competitors by
staying connected with business leaders and innovators that create collaborations. It can help you in
both personal and professional growth that will improve your communication and leadership skills as a
businessman that will strengthen your confidence.
