#### Document Number: [To be Assigned]
#### Prepared By: [Name]
#### Date: [Date]
#### Approved By: [Name]
#### Revision: [Version]
#### 1. Purpose
To establish a standardized procedure for executing layered compaction at the construction
site, ensuring quality and compliance with MD Sir’s instructions.
#### 2. Scope
This SOP applies to all site engineers, supervisors, operators, and personnel involved in
compaction activities.
#### 3. Responsibility
- Site Engineer: Supervise and ensure compliance.
- Supervisor: Implement and monitor activities.
- Operator: Execute compaction as per guidelines.
- QA/QC Inspector: Conduct quality checks and document results.
#### 4. Equipment Required
- Vibratory Roller
- Plate Compactor
- Laser Level/Gauge Markers
- Sand Cone Apparatus/Nuclear Density Gauge
- Measuring Tape/Scale
#### 5. Procedure
##### Step 1: Site Preparation
- Clear and level the area to be compacted.
- Set out level markers to indicate the required layer thickness.
##### Step 2: Layer Thickness Verification
- Measure the loose layer thickness before compaction using gauge markers.
- Ensure the thickness does not exceed the specified limit (as per project requirements).
##### Step 3: Compaction Process
- Operate the compacting equipment as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Follow the specified number of passes based on soil type and compaction equipment.
- Ensure uniform coverage and overlap between passes.
##### Step 4: Quality Check
- Conduct field density tests after compaction.
- Record test results and compare them with specified density requirements.
- Rectify any areas failing to meet standards by re-compacting or adjusting layer thickness.
##### Step 5: Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily records of compaction activities.
- Log details of equipment used, passes completed, and test results.
- Report any deviations and corrective actions taken.
#### 6. Safety Precautions
- Wear appropriate PPE (helmet, gloves, safety shoes).
- Operate equipment within designated areas only.
- Follow manufacturer’s guidelines for equipment handling.
#### 7. References
- Project Specifications
- Equipment Operation Manuals
- Quality Assurance Guidelines
