Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics
(Grade 7 – Rose – 10:00-11:00 am)

Learning Competency:
The learner illustrates a circle and the terms related to it: radius, diameter,
chord, circumference, center, arc, central angle, and inscribed angle.

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students are expected to:

a. define circle and its parts;
b. illustrate a circle and the terms related to it (radius, diameter,
chord, center, and arc); and
c. participate actively in the given activities.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Circle and the terms related to it

Reference: Crisostomo, Ricardo M., de Sagun, Priscila C., Padua, Alicia L.
Our World of Math 7. Vibal Publishing House, Inc. 2013.
(pages 318-320).
Materials: visual aids, chalk, blackboard, laptop, and TV set
Strategies/Methods used: Collaborative Learning, Lecture Method,
Deductive Method

III. Learning Procedure

A. Daily Routine
a. Prayer and Greetings
b. Classroom Arrangement
c. Checking of attendance
d. Motivational Activity: “JUMBLED LETTERS”
- The teacher will divide the class into five (5) groups and
let them arranged the jumbled letters to form the terms.
Each correct term will be given three (3) points. (5
minutes)

RADIUS DIAMETER CHORD CIRCLE

ARC
B. Developmental Activity: “DESCRIBE ME”
- The teacher will present, one by one, the illustrations about
radius, diameter, chord, and arc of a circle. He will ask the students
about their own observations regarding on the characteristics being
shown from a certain illustration posted on the board.

C. Analysis
Guide Questions:
1. How will you define the radius of a circle?
2. How will you define the diameter of a circle?
3. How will you define a chord of a circle?
4. How will you define an arc of a circle?
5. What are the characteristics to be considered in order for us to
say that it is the radius, diameter, chord, or arc of the circle?

D. Abstraction
 The teacher will summarize the ideas of the students and
present to them the definition of the following terms related to a
circle.
a. Circle - is the set of all points in the plane that are the same
distance away from a specific point, called the center.
b. Radius - is a line segment connecting the center of the circle
and a point on the circle.
c. Chord - is a line segment whose endpoints are both on a
circle.
d. Diameter - is a chord that passes through the center of the
circle.
e. Arc - is any part of the circumference of a circle.

E. Application/Evaluation
Each student will prepare a ¼ sheet of paper and do the task given
below.
Task:
1. Draw a circle having a/an:

a. center at Point O;
b. diameter = GD ;
c. radius = LO ;
d. chord = VE ; and
e. arc = ¿^ .

IV. Agreement

Study in advance about types of arcs, central angle, inscribed angle,

tangent line, secant line, concentric circles, and congruent circles.
