8 MATERIALS
8.1 GENERAL
8.1.1 Materials, Goods and Workmanship
1 All Materials and goods shall be of the respective kinds described in the Contract supported
when required with the necessary approval and compliance documents from the concerned
authorities.
2 Materials and goods may be required in accordance with the Engineer's instructions and shall
be subjected from time to time to such tests as the Engineer may direct at either the place of
manufacture, fabrication, the Site or at all or any such places.
3 The Contractor shall provide such assistance, instruments, equipment machines, labour and
material as are normally required for examining, measuring and testing any work. This applies
to the quality, weight or quantity of any materials used and the Contractor shall supply the

required material samples before incorporation in the Works for any specific testing selected
in
and required by the Engineer.
8.1.2 Handling and Storage of Materials ct

1 The Contractor shall establish documented procedures for handling and storage of materials
on
and equipment. The procedures must be submitted to the Engineer for review and approval
prior to implementation.

2 The storage and handling procedures established by the Contractor shall be sufficiently

detailed to prevent damage, deterioration, distortion of shape or dimension, loss, degradation,
loss of identification, or substitution.

3 The storage and handling procedures shall address the use, inspection and maintenance of
special devices such as crates, boxes, containers, dividers, slings, material handling and
ID
transportation equipment and other facilities.

4 The Contractor shall identify any equipment and/or material requiring special handling or
specialized storage.
5 If any material is damaged during storage or handling the Contractor shall arrange for
inspection and tests to prove that the material is still compliant with the QCS unless agreed in
writing by the Engineer. Inspection and test and replacement where nonconformity is found
shall be at the Contractors cost.
6 The Engineer has the right to reject any material which has not been stored or handled
appropriately and has caused irreversible damage.
8.1.3 Identification and Control of Items and Materials
1 The Contractor shall establish documented control procedures to ensure that equipment and
materials are properly used and installed.

2 The Contractor shall identify all items and materials so that they are traceable throughout all
inspections, test activities, and records. For stored items, the identification method shall be
consistent with the expected duration and type of storage.
3 The Contractor shall record equipment and material identifications and ensure that they are
traceable to the location where they are incorporated into the Works.
