Extruders are used to produce long continuous products such as tubing, tire treads, and wire coverings.

They are also used to produce various profiles that can later be cut to length. Multiroll calenders are
used to make wide sheeting.

Extrusion in food processing consists of forcing soft mixed ingredients through an opening in a
perforated plate or die designed to produce the required shape. The extruded food is then cut to a
specific size by blades
