Rough guide to taking measurements

Front shoulder to waist: From a point half way along the shoulder, measure
down to the waistline over and under the bust. Go over the fullest part of
the bust.
Back shoulder to waist: From the same point as the front, measure down to
the waistline, over the curve of the back.
Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the bust, going under the arms
around the back. Try and keep the tape level. Also measure the front and
back halves of the bust, there will be more volume in the front for larger
busts.
Bust darts position: Measure up from the waist to your fullest bust point.
Waist: Measure around the natural waist. (Normally above the belly button,.)
Hips: Measure around the hips at the following levels. High hip: 12.5cm down
from waist. Normal hip: 17.5cm down from waist. Full hip (optional, only
needed for very full hips) 35cm down from waist.
Shoulder width: Measure across the back from shoulder point to shoulder
point.
Back width: Measure across the back from where the natural armholes
would be (have the customer wear a t-shirt if you’re unsure).
Chest width: Measure at the same level as the back width across the
chest (above the bust).
Shoulder length: Measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder point.
Neck circumference: Measure loosely around the of the neck.
Top arm: Measure around the fullest part of the bicep.
Arm length: Measure from the shoulder point to the wrist.
Waist to knee length: Measure from the waist down to the knee level.
Waist to ankle length: Measure from the waist down to the ankle level.
Crotch depth: Taken seated. Measure at the side of the body from the
waist level to the seat.
