IV. Procedures
a. Reviewing previous lesson What I need to know? Fun Day Free Day
or presenting the new A physical property is a (Games, Story Telling,
lesson characteristic of an object that you Film Showing, Cooking
can measure or observe with at etc.)
least one of your five senses.
Examples of observable physical
properties are Size, Shape, Color
and Texture.
Learning Task 1
Beginner: Repeat the name of
object shown in the picture as the
guardian say it. The guardian will
make a video of the learner while
doing the activity.
Proficient: Trace the word and Say
the name of object that was
shown in the picture. The guardian
will make a video of the learner
while doing the activity.
Advanced: Complete the box and
write the missing letter by naming
the objects. The guardian will
make a video of the learner while
doing the activity.
b. Establishing a purpose for What’s new?
the lesson Physical Properties are
characteristics that can be
observed or recorded without
changing the object. Physical
properties can be observed or
measured without changing the
composition of matter.
Physical properties of materials
and systems are often described
as intensive and extensive
properties. Examples of observable
physical properties are Size,
Shape, Color and Texture.
c. Presenting examples/ What I know?
instances of the new lesson
Learning Task 2
Beginner: Repeat the sentence as the
guardian say it. The parent will take a
video of the learner’s performance.
Proficient: Trace the dotted words,
then read the whole sentence,
assistance of guardian if needed.
Advanced: Read and copy the whole
sentences in your notebook. The
parent will take a video of the
learner’s performance.
d. Discussing new concepts What’s in?
and practicing new skills #1 A physical property is a characteristic of
an object that you can measure or
observe with at least one of your five
senses. Physical properties can be
observed or measured without changing
the composition of matter. Examples of
observable physical properties are Size,
Shape, Color and Texture.
Size
Size in general is the magnitude or
dimensions of a thing. Size is determined
by the process of comparing or measuring
objects, which results in the determination
of the magnitude of a quantity, such as
length or mass, relative to a unit of
measurement. Objects being described by
their relative size are often described as
being comparatively big and little, or large
and small, although big and little tend to
carry affective and evaluative
connotations, whereas large and small
tend to refer only to the size of a thing.
Shape
A shape or figure is the graphical
representation of an object or its external
boundary, outline, or external surface, as
opposed to other properties such as color,
texture, or material type. The ability to
accurately identify shapes is a
foundational mathematical skill, and it is
quite rewarding for children because their
world is full of shapes. Understanding
shapes will enable students to be more in
tune to the world around them and see
the connections between objects, as well
as being better able to appreciate artistic
works.
Color
Color is the visual perceptual property
deriving from the spectrum of light
interacting with the photoreceptor cells of
the eyes. Color categories and physical
specifications of color are associated with
objects or materials based on their
physical properties such as light
absorption, reflection, or emission spectra.
By defining a color space colors can be
identified numerically by their coordinates.
Texture
Surface texture is one of the important
factors that control friction and transfer
layer formation during sliding.
Considerable efforts have been made to
study the influence of surface texture on
friction and wear during sliding conditions.
Surface textures can be isotropic or
anisotropic. Sometimes, stick-slip friction
phenomena can be observed during
sliding, depending on surface texture.
texture means smoothness, roughness, or
bumpiness of the surface of an object.
Importance of Physical Properties
It is important to understand the
properties because everything is made up
of matter. Each type of matter has
different physical and properties which can
be observed or calculated. The physical
properties of matter involves odor, color
and so on, these make us feel and see the
matter.
e. Discussing new concepts What is it?
and practicing new skills #2
Identify the physical properties of objects.
A physical property is a characteristic of
an object that you can measure or
observe with at least one of your five
senses. Examples of observable physical
properties are Size, Shape, Color and
Texture.
f. Developing mastery What’s more?
Create geometric shapes of varying sizes
Learning Task 3
A shape or figure is the graphical
representation of an object or its external
boundary, outline, or external surface, as
opposed to other properties such as color,
texture, or material type.
Look at the picture. Get your
playdough/clay and create a different
geometric shapes for every color that you
have.
Beginning:
The parent will ask the learner to create a
different geometric shape for every color
that they have. (With parents’ maximum
assistance.)
Proficient:
The parent will ask the learner to create a
different geometric shape for every color
that they have. (With parents’ assistance if
needed.)
Advanced:
The parent will ask the learner to create a
different geometric shape for every color
that they have.
g. Finding practical What I can do?
applications of concepts and Let us see what you understand about the
skills in daily living physical properties of objects
A physical property is a characteristic of an
object that you can measure or observe
with at least one of your five senses.
Physical properties can be observed or
measured without changing the
composition of matter. Examples of
observable physical properties are Size,
Shape, Color and Texture.
Beginner: Read and Trace the words on the
boxes below. Complete the sentences.
(With parents’ maximum assistance.)
Proficient: Read and Trace the words on
the boxes below. Complete the sentences.
(With parents’ assistance if needed.)
Advanced: Use the words below to
complete the sentences.
h. Making generalizations and What other enrichment activities can I
abstractions about the engage in? (Additional Activities)
lesson Understand about the differences of
physical properties of objects
Learning Task 4
A physical property is a characteristic of an
object that you can measure or observe
with at least one of your five senses.
Examples of observable physical properties
are Size, Shape, Color and Texture.
The parent will ask these questions:
Beginning: What is your favorite color?
What are your favorite shapes?
The parent will take a video of the learner’s
performance.
Proficient: What is your favorite color?
What are your favorite shapes?
Follow-up activity: Can you give an example
of objects that has different size and
texture?
The parent will take a video of the learner’s
performance.
Advanced: What is your favorite color?
What are your favorite shapes?
Follow-up activity: Can you give an example
of objects that has different size and
texture?
Why is it important that you know the
differences of physical properties of object?
The parent will take a video of the learner’s
performance.
i. Evaluating learning What I have learned?
Learning Task 5
Beginning: Color the pictures, give
examples of different of physical
properties of object shown in the
picture. (with maximum assistance of
guardian)
Proficient: Color the pictures, give
examples of different of physical
properties of object shown in the
picture. (with assistance of guardian
as needed)
Advanced: Identify the animal/object
below. Color the pictures, give
examples of different of physical
properties of object shown in the
picture.
j. Additional activities for What I can achieved?
application or remediation For additional activity:
The parent will sing the lyrics
below. After the parent, the learner
will then sing also. The parents will
take a video recorded of learner’s
performance while doing this activity.
Beginning: The learner will sing the
1st to 3rd stanza of the song with
action and moderate cues of
guardian.
Proficient: The learner will sing the
1st to 3rd stanza of the song with
action and moderate cues of
guardian.
Advanced: The learner will sing the
whole song with action.
