Module 1 – Leaning Plans in the Context of the 21 st Century

The K to 12 Curriculum  Framework

Pre-test 

Answer the following:

1. What is K to 12 Curriculum Framework?


Answer: In my own understanding, K-12 is a curriculum framework that set a
standard that specifies the content to be learned. It is different because it
defines the intended curriculum. Or what to teach. It is not how to structure an
exemplary lesson. K-12 really a boom in today’s era in which student are more
desired in 21st century skills.

2. What is K to 12 Curriculum Guide is all about?

Answer: The K-12 Curriculum guides are documents used by states, school
districts and individual schools to guide teachers in their instruction. Many
guides are detailed, giving teachers a specific scope of what to teach and
when. Many provide additional resources, such as necessary materials and
assessment tools

3. What does ICT stand for?


Answer: The ICT is stand for Information and Communication Technology.

4. What are the 21st Century skills?


Answer: The term 21st Century skills is generally used to refer to certain core
competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and
problem-solving that advocates believe schools need to teach to help students
thrive in today's world.

5. What does it mean to be a digital citizen?


Answer: A digital citizen refers to a person who has the knowledge and skills
to effectively use digital technologies to communicate with others, participate
in society and create and consume digital content. Digital citizenship is about
confident and positive engagement with digital technologies.
Activity 2

1. Recall how your teachers in your field of specialization used information and
communication technologies to help you understand some concepts in your
lessons.

Answer:Word processor has close links to literacy and language development.


Being proficient in word processing skills is something which students will
continually use and build on throughout their school career. This is a tool that
being used by my teacher in order to develop my language ability and enhanced
my skills in language. This is also helpful to understand the lessons in language.

2. Identify the specific lesson and learning objectives of your teacher.

Answer: The learning objectives was very appropriate to the learning outcomes
of the students. The teacher objectives are suit to the learners needs. The lesson
is all about Technology enhancement.

3. Were you able to understand the lesson and demonstrate the learning objectives
with the teacher’s integration of ICT? Why?

Answer: Through integrating the technology in the lesson it comes out that most
of the learners are having an easy time to understand the lesson and it is an
effective way to teach the learners and it is a convenient approach to teaching.

4. If you were to enhance the ICT used by your teacher, how will you do it? Will
you use the same ICT or will you modify how it was integrated?

Answer: If I were to put in that situation I think I will integrate a kind of


technology that is purely based and useful to the learners. I will integrate
YouTube, Facebook and other digital platforms in order to hon their skills and
abilities.
Activity 4
Setting My Outcomes for this Course

1. How will I apply all the knowledge and skills that I learned in TTL2 in
teaching my field of specialization?

Answer: I think the best way to apply the learnings is to integrate


technology from the different learning areas through allowing
students to use technology in their times of learning and activities.

2. How will I develop learning plans for my classes to make sure that
available technologies for teaching and learning will be put to use for
meaningful learning?

Answer: Technology play an important aspect in the learnings of the


students and I think I will develop plans that will address their needs
like setting technology in a better way and allowing every learner to
involved in technology integration.

3. How will I ensure that my goals in this course will be achieved?

Answer: Thorough knowledge and effective teaching and integrating


technology will best describe to meet the outcomes and achieved the
goals of an effective integration and teaching using technology.

Integrating Technologies for Teaching and Learning

1. How will technological tools for teaching and learning promote the salient featurs
of the K to 12 Curriculum?

field of specialization? Rank them in terms of the identified standards and

Lesson 2: ICT –Pedagogy Integration in Language Learning
Plans

Pre-test 

Do the following:

1. Ponder on your background, educational experiences, and prior knowledge and


skills on how information, communication, and technologies (ICTs) were successfully
used by your teachers in the lower level. 

Answer:When I was entered high school, technology has been boom in our
school in which it is usually used in reporting. Technology has the ability to
enhance relationships between teachers and students. When teachers effectively
integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser,
content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more
meaningful and fun.

2. Recall the ICT tools that were used by your teachers in your language class and
describe how these were used to help you understand your lessons. 

Answer: Word processor has close links to literacy and language development.

Answer: 

1. Drawing and Graphics Programs: - Today, visual literacy is equally significant


as before. Imagine showing our students how to use one of these drawing or
graphics programs to our students so that they can use it creatively, to add an
image to a newspaper article, to understand how sometimes a thousand words
can be told by color, pictures or gesture. Use the medium.

2. Web Creation and Design: - Actually, these are the online word processor.
Hence the possibilities in literacy lessons are never-ending but may be restricted
to the teacher's abilities in ICT.

3. Digital Video: - Use the power of video to help students develop language
skills.

4. Emails: - Emails are best for developing skills in online literacy. We all write
differently online and also for a different audience.
4. Web Searching: - In the 21st century, the skill to find information is an
important skill.

Activity 1

Research for the definitions of ICT as thought of by the following sources:

1. Moursund (2005)

Answer: According to this sources ICT defines a broad, deep and rapidly-
growing field of study. ICT utilizes a broad range of technologies to collect, store,
edit, retrieve and transfer information in various forms.

2. Tinio (2009)

Answer: In this sources it clearly defines that ICT as a diverse set of


technological tools and resources used to communicate and to create,
disseminate, store and manage information.

3. UNESCO (2020)

Answer: UNESCO defines ICT as the forms of technology that are used to
transmit, process, store, create, display, share or exchange information by
electronic means.

4. Ratheeswari (2018)

Answer: According to this sources ICT defined as a scientific, technological and


engineering discipline and management technique used in handling information,
its application and association with social, economic and cultural matters. 

Activity 3
Make What You Know

1. Choose one (1) among news article of current events, feature article, or
editorial/opinion.

Answer: FROM 21 FEBRUARY 2020 UNTIL 21 FEBRUARY 2022: at least 80


countries and territories across the globe have decided to postpone national and
subnational elections due to COVID-19, out of which at least 42 countries and
territories have decided to postpone national elections and referendums.

2. Create a short essay or poem on the importance of news.

Answer: Newspaper is quite a powerful tool that circulates information to


people. It is one of the greatest means of communication between people and the
world. In addition, they are also a great medium of knowledge. We get our daily
dose of news from newspapers early in the morning. It is quite a reliable source
which gives us information only after thoroughly investigating the information.
The newspaper has created a positive impact on society. It helps people become
aware of current affairs and stay curious about them. When the public will
question, it means they are aware. This is exactly what a newspaper does. It is
also the finest link you can find between the government and its people.
Newspapers provide people with every detail no matter how small.

3. Include  the name of the newspaper.

Answer: THE GLOBAL STATE DEMOCRACY 

Rating criteria: Your score will be based on your citations and explanations
about the articles.      

There will be a deduction of three (3) points if you don’t include the name of the 
newspaper.

Activity 4
Analyzing the Salient Parts of the Learning Plan

1. Identify and describe the common parts of the two learning plans you have read. 
2. Write your observations below.

Essential Parts of a Learning Plan


1- Objectives:

Write what you expect your students will do by the end of the lesson 
e.g. by the end of the lesson, students will be able to ” pronounce,
identify, put words in sentences, change into passive, compare,
answer, use, match or any verbs that can be observable and
measurable in the classroom.

2- Warm-up:  

Revise the previous lesson, check homework orally, correct common


mistakes, or any other activity that can activate students and prepare
them to receive the new material.

3- Presentation:

Present the new material using the suitable techniques, write the
procedures that you will follow to explain the new material.

4- Practice:

It is the work done by the students whether it is controlled, guided,


or free. Students answer some exercises based on the material
presented. These exercises are often there on the set book.

5- Assessment:

Write some sentences on the board or distribute printed papers to


see whether the objectives were achieved or not and to check
whether students learned or not according to the objectives. If not,
you should reteach the lesson using different techniques.

Answer: I had realized that Teacher training is more complex because there are
