 Contemporary art refers to art created by living artists that reflects the current times in response to trends like globalization, technology, and diversity.  Many contemporary artists try to capture modern realities like constant connectivity and borderless societies through appropriation of previous works, performance pieces interpreting everyday life, site-specific installations, hybrid materials, and use of technology.  Art in contemporary times has evolved to incorporate appropriation of previous works, more spontaneous performances interpreted through a deeper understanding of life, use of varied materials in hybrid artworks, and propagation through expanding technologies like the internet.

5. Technology
 Used in the creation and dissemination of works of art
 MTV in 1981, then Youtube posting and sharing videos
 Video and internet are used in propagating art
