SYNOPSIS

Project title: Hospital Management

System

INTRODUCTION:
The project Hospital Management system includes registration of
patients, storing their details into the system, and also computerized
billing in the pharmacy, and labs. The software has the facility to give
a unique id for every patient and stores the details of every patient
and the staff automatically. It includes a search facility to know the
current status of each room. User can search availability of a doctor
and the details of a patient using the id.

The Hospital Management System can be entered using a username

and password. It is accessible either by an administrator or
receptionist. Only they can add data into the database. The data can be
retrieved easily. The interface is very user-friendly. The data are well
protected for personal use and makes the data processing very fast.

Hospital Management System is powerful, flexible, and easy to use

and is designed and developed to deliver real conceivable benefits to
hospitals.
Hospital Management System is designed for multispeciality
hospitals, to cover a wide range of hospital administration and
management processes. It is an integrated end-to-end Hospital
Management System that provides relevant information across the
hospital to support effective decision making for patient care,
hospital administration and critical financial accounting, in a seamless
flow.
Hospital Management System is a software product suite designed to
improve the quality and management of hospital management in the
areas of clinical process analysis and activity-based costing. Hospital
Management System enables you to develop your organization and
improve its effectiveness and quality of work. Managing the key
processes efficiently is critical to the success of the hospital helps you
manage your processes

Objective:
1. The system should be menu-driven and must have a
user-friendly Graphical User Interface.
2. When a patient comes for treatment and is
admitted to the hospital his card should be filled and all
jobs to be done should get listed.
3. If the medical store issues medicines to patients, it
should reduce the stock status of the medical store and
vice-versa.
4. It should be able to handle the test reports of
patients conducted in the pathology lab of the hospital.
5. The inventory should be updated automatically
whenever a transaction is made. The system should be
able to ring an alarm if the stock level of certain
medicines reaches the minimum level (Reorder Limit).
6. The prescription of the Outdoor patients should be
kept up to date and there record should be kept in the
system for historical purposes.
7. The accounting of the hospital should be integrated
into the new system so that this job need not be
outsourced.
8. The record and fee details of external doctors
should be maintained separately with the internal
doctor’s record.
9. Since the test results, treatment results and
accounting information are crucial to the hospital there
must be a good security mechanism in the software.
10. While admitting a new patient room allocation
and availability check for the same should be done by
the system.
11. The system must have digital image processing facilities
to process ultra sound & other reports, and Employees
photographs.

Scope:
Java Hospital System consists of three function module.
Master Maintenance Module - Hospital Details,
Department Details, Room Type Details, Room Details

Staff Module - Designation Master, Staff Education, Staff

Master, Staff Personal Details
Patient Module - Out Patient, Out Patient Consultancy
Charge Entry, Consultancy Report, In Patient Master,
Patient Admission, Charges Master, Bill Entry and Print
Module Description:
Administration Module:-
This is the main module in the proposed project. The
administrator can read and write information about any member
such as patient, doctors and staff of the hospital. They can also
update, create and delete the record of members as requirement
and implementation plan.

Outpatient:-
The outpatient module contains details of the patient who
came for checkups.

Lab Module:-
Lab module is used to generate laboratory reports.

Billing Module:-
The bill payment report of the patient.

Platform Used:
Front End:
JAVA SWINGS:
Swing is a GUI widget toolkit for Java. It is part of Oracle's Java
Foundation Classes – an API for providing a graphical user interface for
Java programs. Swing was developed to provide a more sophisticated
set of GUI components than the earlier Abstract Window Toolkit.
Back End:
MySQL:

MySQl is a database, widely used for accessing querying,

updating, and managing data in databases.
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
 It require minimum 512 MB ram.
 10 GB of memory to store data of customers.
 It require monitor i.e. L.C.D or desktop.
 It supports to keyboard of 120 keys(only English)
 It require optical mouse.

Minimum Software Requirements:-

 MYSQL to maintain database.
 NetBeans

CONCLUSION:
This project will enhance the patients and the hospital to
serve more quickly and efficiently. This software is
developed in order to computerize the activities which
take more time, if done manually.
Hospital billing system will enable the patient and
hospital staff to make things faster and can get
information quickly. If we want any information about
patient, we can access it quickly.
