Vilma Ate Vi Santos-Recto The popular governor of Batangas
province reportedly turned down invitations for her to run as vice-president in
the 2010 election and she switched from Lakas party to P-Noys Liberal Party
in late 2009. She is former three-term mayor of Lipa City and the street-smart
political partner of husband Senator Ralph Recto. When asked if she plans to
someday run for president of the Philippines, the multi-awarded film and TV
actress said she never makes political plans and is only concerned about
doing a good job serving the people of Batangas as governor.

Joseph Erap Ejercito EstradaFormer president, vice-president,


senator, San Juan mayor and six-time Famas Best Actor awardee Erap is still a
formidable force in Philippine politics and genuinely loved by the masses. He
landed a surprising second place to P-Noy and Senator Manny Villar in the 2010
presidential race despite lack of resources and showbiz celebrity endorsers.
His sons Jinggoy and JV are respectively senator and congressman, while his
second wife Guia Gomez is now mayor of San Juan City.

Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. Popular movie actor, film producer and TV
host Bong Revilla is a former governor of Cavite province and early this year
was elected as president of the oppositions Lakas-Kampi-CMD party. His wife
is the hardworking Cavite Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla. His younger
brother Strike Revilla is mayor of their hometown of Bacoor, Cavite, while
younger sister Andrea Bautista-Ynares is the wife of Rizal Governor Casimiro
Jun Ynares III. Revilla is the first actor to be appointed chairman of the antipiracy Optical Media Board (OMB), which later paved the way for other actors
Edu Manzano and incumbent chairman Ronnie Ricketts to assume the post.

Pacquiao, the disciplined world boxing champion, is now Saranggani
congressman. Colleagues said he is hardworking and is studying politics
earnestly, while GMA 7 chairman Atty. Felipe Gozon told this writer: Manny
Pacquiao has a bright political future. His Manny Many Prizes show on GMA 7
has become wildly popular. A former ally of Nacionalista standardbearer Manny
Villar, Pacquiao in 2010 switched to P-Noys Liberal Party.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30,


1947, near Graz, Austria. He rose to fame as the world's top bodybuilder,

launching a career that would make him a giant Hollywood star. After years of
blockbuster movie roles, Schwarzenegger went into politics, becoming
governor of California in 2003. In 2012, he returned to his acting career,
starring with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone in
the film The Expendables 2. Within just one week, the movie had climbed to
the No. 1 spot at the box office, bringing in nearly $28.6 million.
Ronald Reagan Born in Tampico, Illinois, on February 6, 1911, Ronald
Reagan initially chose a career in entertainment, appearing in more than 50
films. While in Hollywood, he worked as president of the Screen Actor's Guild
and met his future wife, Nancy (Davis) Reagan. He later served two terms as
governor of California. Originally a liberal Democrat, Reagan ran for the U.S.
presidency as a Republican and won two terms, beginning in 1980, ultimately
becoming a conservative icon over the ensuing decades. Having suffered from
Alzheimer's disease in his later years, Reagan died on June 5, 2004.
Clint Eastwood Born on May 31, 1930, in San Francisco, California, Clint
Eastwood got his big break starring on the television western Rawhide. He
then became immensely popular via a string of Sergio Leone movie westerns
and the Dirty Harry franchise. In recent years, Eastwood has directed many
films, including the Academy Awardwinning projects Unforgiven, Mystic River,
Million Dollar Baby and Changeling. He's also known as a big supporter of the
Republican Party, and made headlines when he spoke at the Republican
National Convention in 2012.

Kal Penn Born in New Jersey in 1977, Kal Penn grew up in a traditional
Indian family and aspired to be an actor. After attending UCLA, he landed roles
in the films National Lampoon's Van Wilder and Harold and Kumar Go to White
Castle, as well as on the television shows House and 24. In 2009, Penn entered
public service as President Barack Obama's associate director of the White
House Office of Public Engagement. He later fulfilled other duties for the
Obama administration and continued his acting career on such TV shows as
How I Met Your Mother.
Ralph Waite Born on June 22, 1928, in White Plains, New York, Ralph
Waite earned degrees from Bucknell University and Yale Divinity School before
beginning an acting career. Best known for playing the role of John Walton Sr.
on The Waltons (1971-1981), when the series ended, Waite continued to work
in television and film. Following long-held political aspirations, he
unsuccessfully ran for a seat in Congress in 1990 and 1998. He died on
February 13, 2014, at age 85.
Shirley Temple Born on April 23, 1928, in Santa Monica, California, Shirley
Temple was a leading child film actress during the Great Depression, starring

in works like Bright Eyes and Captain January. When her rendition of the song
"On a Good Ship Lollipop" became famous in the 1930s, she earned a special
Academy Award. Temple took on some acting roles as an adult before entering
politics, becoming a U.S. diplomat for the United Nations. She died on
February 10, 2014, at age 85, in California
George Murphy George Murphy was born on July 4, 1902 in New Haven,
Connecticut. In 1927, he made his Broadway debut in the musical comedy
Good News. He made his movie debut in 1934's Kid Millions. Over the course of
his acting career, he starred in more than 45 films. In 1964, he was elected to
the U.S. Senate, representing California as a Republican. Murphy died of
leukemia in Palm Beach, Florida on May 3, 1992.
Sonny Bono Born in Detriot, Michigan, in 1935, Sonny Bono started his
career as a singer in the mid-1960s with then-girlfriend Cher. Their biggest hit
was "I Got You Babe." Bono's singing career waned, but he stepped back into
the public eye when he became mayor of Palm Springs, California in 1988. In
1994, he was elected to Congress as a representative from California's 44th
Congressional District. He unexpectedly died in a skiing accident in 1998.
Jesse Ventura Born James George Janos on July 15, 1951, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, Jesse Ventura went on to find success and fame in the worlds of
professional wrestling, acting, and politics. During Ventura's ten years on the
pro wrestling circuit, he was part of the American Wrestling Association as well
as the World Wrestling Federation. While he was never considered the most
talented wrestler, he won fans with his charisma and his outspoken style.
These qualities led to a steady gig as a color commentator for the WWF in
[Link] late 1997, Ventura decided to run for governor of Minnesota as a
Reform Party candidate. His unusual platformpro-choice, pro-gay rights, and
pro-gunand somewhat unorthodox background caused many observers to
completely dismiss Ventura as a serious candidate.

Fred Thompson Fred Thompson was born on August 19, 1942, in Sheffield,
Alabama. He served as a U.S. Attorney and was on the Watergate Committee
that investigated Nixon. In 1985, he played himself in the movie Marie, which
led to several film roles. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1994 to 2003, after
which he played the role of Arthur Branch on Law & Order. He briefly ran for
U.S. president in 2008.
George Takei Born on April 20, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, George
Takei overcame the racial barriers of his time to launch a successful acting
career. He starred as Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu during the three-year television
run of Star Trek, and later reprised the role for six movies. Prominently
involved with gay rights and Japanese-American groups, Takei has become a

highly popular social-media presence.


John Gavin John Gavin was born on April 8, 1931, in Los Angeles,
California. From 1958 to 1969, he starred in classic films, and from 1981 to
1986, he was ambassador to Mexico. He left his post in 1986 to become
president of Univisa Satellite Communications. Gavin has likewise been the
acting president of Gamma Services Corp., otherwise known as Gamma
Holdings, since he founded the global capital and consulting company in 1968.
Amitabh Bachchan Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942 in
Allahabad, India. In 1969, he debuted in Saat Hindustani. His role in 1972's
Zanjeer made him an action movie star. In the 1980s, Bachchan held a seat in
the Indian Parliament. In the '90s, he started his own production company. He
returned to acting in 1997, with Mrityudaata. In 2000, he began hosting the
Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
Glenda Jackson Glenda Jackson was born May 9, 1936 in Birkenhead,
England. Jackson had a successful film career after performing in theater,
eventually winning two Academy Awards. Her portrayals gained her such
credibility, she transitioned to politics and won a seat in the House of
Commons.
