Overview of Windows Deployment Services

Windows Deployment Services (WDS) allows administrators to remotely deploy and manage Windows images across the network. It uses tools like Windows PE, ImageX, Sysprep and the Windows System Image Manager (WSIM) to create, capture and deploy boot, install and capture images via PXE and multicast. The latest version supports the new .wim image format, improved image types and management, and multicasting capabilities in Windows Server 2008.
