CIRCULATIONS IN COMMUNITY CENTRE

SUBMITTED BY
DIMPLE SHARMA KANWAR GAURAV

CIRCULATION
WE HAVE BEEN OBSERVING THAT THE HUMAN BODY, WHICH IS OUR MOST FUNDAMENTAL THREE DIMENSIONAL POSSESSION,HAS NOT ITSELF BEEN CENTRAL CONCERN IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF ARCHITECTURAL FORM. ACCESS OR INTERNAL THOROUGHFARES BETWEEN ROOMS OF THE SAME FLOOR OR BETWEEN FLOOR IS KNOWN AS CIRCULATION.

HORIZONTAL CIRCULATION
PASSAGES, CORRIDORS, LOBBY ETC. USED FOR HORIZONTAL CIRCULATION . SHOULD BE INDEPENDENT ,SHORT AND STRAIGHT AND MUST NOT INVADE THE PRIVACY OF ANY ROOM. THE CIRCULATION SPACES ACTUALLY ACT AS ARTERIAL LINES IN ANY BUILDING AND HENCE SHOULD RECEIVE DUE CONSIDERATION RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING OF LAYOUT OR PLANNING OF THE BUILDING. ALL THESE SPACES SHOULD BE WELL VENTILATED AND LIGHTED.

VERTICAL CIRCULATION
STAIRCASE IS A VERY IMPORTANT UNIT OF ANY BUILDING AS IT FORMS THE ONLY LINK AMONG VARIOUS FLOORS OF THE BUILDING. THEY SHOULD BE WELL VENTILATED & LIGHTED AND SHOULD BE SO LOCATED THAT THEY DONT CAUSE ANY DISTURBANCE IN ANY PART OF THE BUILDING. STAIRS SHOULD BE PROPERLY PLANNED IN REGARDS TO WIDTH, RISER, TREAD, RAILING & LANDING. IN CASE OF PUBLIC BUILDING SUITABLE LOCATION OF STAIRCASES,THEIR APPEARANCE HELP TO CREATE A CHEERFUL ATMOSPHERE. SOMETIMES LIFTS AND RAMPS MAY ALSO BE PROVIDED. LIFTS ARE USEFUL FOR VERY HIGH BUILDING WHEREAS RAMPS ARE SUITABLE FOR THEATRES, BUS STAND ETC.
