Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated

For several years, there has been an ongoing effort to move towards a single organization for accreditation that will unify the work of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

In December 2024, the Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated was officially registered as a legal entity and is now incorporated in New Zealand. ILAC has announced this on the ILAC website.

“The Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated represents the evolution of our work. As we move into the next stages of this project, our primary focus will be ensuring a seamless transition from ILAC and IAF to the new organization.”

Etty Feller, ILAC Chair

“By bringing together IAF and ILAC, we are laying the foundation for a more streamlined global accreditation framework, one that will foster greater international cooperation and ensure that accreditation continues to play a vital role in supporting trade, quality and sustainability.”

Emanuele Riva, IAF Chair

In October 2024, IAF and ILAC released communication on specifying the use of Global Accreditation Cooperation Accreditation. This information is available on the ILAC website. The communication addresses the transition from the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) and ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) to the Global Accreditation Cooperation MRA.  This communication also includes the anticipated transition timeline listed below.
