Phil Dockerty cut his teeth as a working DJ, creating mixes for commercial and BBC radio, before finding himself perfectly placed to embrace the house music revolution of 1988/89. His route into production grew from the energy of the 1990s.
He co-founded What U Like with Pete Gooding, a weekly bar session that became a monthly club night and the start of a long creative partnership, leading to Secret Life Records.
Through Urban Hero Records, Phil was part of the independent label culture of the era, releasing music when UK house felt raw, exciting and driven by DJs, producers and collectors building scenes from the ground up.
In 1997, Phil co-founded Futureshock with Alex Tepper. Their debut single, “Sparc”, was released on Fuju, under Junior Boys Own / Parlophone / EMI. Futureshock went on to remix The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Moby, New Order and others, won a Dancestar Award in 2001, toured with Underworld, and played clubs and festivals worldwide.
