Optimus Funk is the DJ alias of London-based selector Adrian Burton, known for groove-led sets drawing from funk, disco, jazz, and house, shaped by a background in street dance and movement culture. His approach balances dancefloor awareness with deep musical knowledge, making him equally at home in clubs, cultural spaces, and listening-led environments.
He has held residencies at Soho House and Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, and has played at venues including Southbank Centre, The Bussey Building, Sushisamba, and BBE Store. Festival appearances include Detour Discotheque, Boardmasters, and Nile Rodgers’ Meltdown Festival.
He curates the DJ-led License To Groove event series, recently presenting a London showcase featuring live performances from XL Middleton and Moniquea. Optimus Funk has also appeared on Soho Radio, Threads, and Brooklyn Radio, and has played internationally in Stockholm, Seoul, and Bratislava.
