A passionate selector and proud representative of Montreal, DJ Kobal has been captivating crowds with his turntable skills since the early 1990s.
A true music lover and co-founder of the labels Afro Kats and Zamal Funk, he’s interested in all musical genres, with a special fondness for funk and tropical sounds.
In the summer of 2009, he had the honor of opening for Stevie Wonder at the opening concert of the 30th Montreal International Jazz Festival. Over the years, Kobal has shared the stage with world-renowned artists such as Funkadelic, Roy Ayers, Fred Wesley, Seun Kuti, Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, Quantic, and many others.
His musical universe spans a wide range of styles — jazz, funk, soul, oldies rock, reggae, afro-beat, afro-funk, disco, Brazilian rhythms, hip-hop, Caribbean grooves, house, breaks, and blues.
