I first started hearing and learning about the horrors of turning animals into fur coats when I was in high school (back in the late 80's). I wrote essays on the issues and got an A+ on my "Making of a fur-free society" paper. During college, I began to realize that by boycotting fur, I was not really helping massive amounts of animals as I lived in Texas (and still do) and knew that I couldn't afford a fur even if I wanted one. So, I thought "hey, why don't I STOP eating animals". A few years later, I became vegetarian. That lasted for 11 years and then in June of 2006, I skimmed through my monthly enews from Peta and saw something that said "KFC Tortures Chickens", along with Pamela Anderson's KFC Expose'. It especially sparked my interest and for some reason, I finally looked behind the facade and opened my eyes to the realities of factory farming.
