Jim Langabeer

In his teens, Jim Langabeer played and recorded with rock groups. In 1960s, played modern jazz with Ted Meager and Paul Dyne. Played sax and flute and arranged for TV’s ‘Jazz Mode’. Recording flutist with the Russ Garcia Orchestra. National tours and concerts included The Temptations, Sammy Davis Jnr, and The Bee Gees.
1984, studied at the Creative Music Studio, New York with Dave Liebman, Roswell Rudd, Baba Olatunji, and Jaco Pastorius.
Founded Superbrew, and recorded ‘Africa/Aroha’. 1996 released ‘One Way Ticket’ with top NY players. Performed in New York with bass player Gary Peacock.
Recorded with Nigel Gavin, Peter Haeder, John Bell, and Rosie Langabeer; played with Phil Broadhurst, Harold Anderson, Kingsley Melhuish, Mike Nock, and Roger Manins.
In 2015, completed Master of Music with first class honours.
Flute soloist on Jonathan Besser’s ‘Campursari’.
Leads Sketches of Aotearoa, and the Auckland Saxophone Quartet.
