Hard Times was opened in 1993 by Steve 'Rubel' Raine , Donna Skinner and Pete Jenkinson in a little known town called Mirfield in West Yorkshire, they called it Hard Times because at the time they were all skint, it is also the name of a Dickens novel set in a place called Coketown if my memory serves me right. Hard Times was one of the first UK clubs to base it's music policy around US house and garage .
